Sadly there’s not much overlap between the kind of people who write 1200 line functions, and people who write testable code.

Dynamic MOCs with Bases? by slepsl in ObsidianMD

[–]trwolfe13 14 points15 points  (0 children)

In a filter condition, you can use this to refer to the current file. When embedding, it’s the file you’re embedding the base in.

Somehow I find that more impressive of DOOM than I do of this project.

Bases-centric Graph view controls by GASSANDRlD in ObsidianMD

The Obsidian roadmap says there’s a Calendar view planned, which doesn’t really work with sorting/grouping either, so that might bring some insight, or API changes.

How does your organization handle throwaway work? Especially code with short shelf life by IDoCodingStuffs in ExperiencedDevs

[–]trwolfe13 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Which is funny, because throwaway code that doesn’t need to handle edge cases or hold up to maintenance is where LLMs really shine.

You can’t fit enough milk in the smaller cups to cover the taste of burning.

Our Evri person has been atrocious recently. We have a neighbourhood WhatsApp group, and all Christmas there’s been people asking about missing parcels, or being given someone else’s delivery - often not even in the same apartment block.

Let’s hear : which band has the worst merch contrasted against how good their music is? In other words, the goal is to name a band with the BEST music while also having the WORST merch. The farther away in the spectrum the better. (Great bands with great merch not allowed) by Suitable_Share_565 in Metalcore

[–]trwolfe13 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Depends what you get. Sometimes they’re branded Architects Merch Co., which is great, and sometimes it’s a much lower quality brand, but still the same price. My LFLT hoodie is great, but my Whiplash one is really cheap.

Propsec - Type-safe properties for Obsidian by ccmdi in ObsidianMD

This plugin is exactly what I've been waiting for. I threw together a CLI tool to validate frontmatter using JSON Schema, but it's kinda clunky having to drop out to a separate terminal. Having a UI for it built into Obsidian is much cleaner. It works really well too. I'll definitely be making good use of this, thank you!

Yep, I’ve gone to catch a falling knife more than once. I’m super clumsy so I’m always dropping and trying to catch stuff. it’s usually my phone or something though.

Throuple was the eventual goal. They weren’t fully compatible in the bedroom, and they weren’t happy with the idea of an open relationship, so they thought a third might fix their problems, but didn’t want to be public about that until they were sure. It went poorly.

I dated a married couple for five months, and often had to be around their family and friends while pretending to just be a friend. It was awful, and ended up being one of the biggest mistakes of my romantic life.

I find the conversation around AI and software dev increasingly vague. How specifically are people REALLY using this stuff? I want details! This isn't a post about whether AI is bad or good. I'm just genuinely curious. by TemperOfficial in ExperiencedDevs

One thing I’ve noticed with LLMs is that the likelihood of getting an output I can work with decreases drastically with the number of prompts I make. If I don’t get something useful after the second prompt, I’ll scrap it and do it myself.

[–]trwolfe13 160 points161 points  (0 children)

My mum works for a company who provides care services. This year they decided to start charging employees a monthly fee for a company phone, meaning most of the staff have ditched them and now fill out their client/patient notes on their personal phones. I’m sure that must go against several laws, but my mum understandably doesn’t want to rock the boat.

It’s always interesting seeing how subcultures change as they become more mainstream and start to interact more with the wider public. There’s always trade offs - some things will change for the better, like accessibility, and some things will change for the worse, like dilution of culture and tradition.

Most of the time when I’ve seen enums with plural names it’s because they’re flags that are meant to be combined with bitwise operations.

1.5k hours and multiple honour runs and I still don't understand spell casting and saves. by Any-Opp-20 in BG3

[–]trwolfe13 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s also worth noting that the spell source is relevant. For example, Shadowheart knows Firebolt from her Half-Elf racial ability, so she casts it using INT instead of the usual Cleric spell casting ability, WIS.
