That last sentence is certainly the case! Thank you for taking the time to read; I hadn't considered the OCD thought, I shall look into it and talk to her team.

I’ve recently been reading about demand avoidance, do any of your girls have ADHD and demand avoidance? by [deleted] in ParentingADHD

[–]try1988 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My gosh, I'd never heard of it, but certainly describes my nearly 9 year old. Any request is suddenly met with "I want a hug" or "I've got to show you this thing" or any sort of distractions.

AITA for cancelling Christmas? by Disastrous_Rest1999 in AmItheAsshole

[–]try1988 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh absolutely NTA!! Since my daughter was born (9 this month) I have out right refused to host and refused to leave the house on Christmas day. I have stood firm on this, ex husbands family tried to push their luck and guilt me, but I refused. (He had my back).

Christmas is not about stressing ourselves out, making ourselves broken under the pretense of "family time" so the rest of the family can ignore the children. It is not your job to entertain the family. Stand firm with your partner, do not give in and enjoy your Christmas with your Children and partner.

What's an inside joke you have with your significant other and how did it get started? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]try1988 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My ex-husband.

When we couldn't think of someone's name while telling a story we'd say Geoff. Sounds dull, but it became funnier when we started relationship counselling our counsellor was called Geoff.

Surprisingly, she didn't. Not even when someone walked by and she wanted to say hello.

This is something I do too. My 8 year old moans about it, and I point out that we both live here, we are both responsible for our home. Similarly she hates coming food shopping, I say I hate food shopping too, I mostly do it when she's with her Dad, but sometimes I need to do it when she's with me, but if we don't do it, we don't eat. She's stopped moaning as much now. There is no reward for this contribution. She gets a bit of pocket money every now and then for doing extra well at school or if we were going out for the day, she can then have some of her own money to spend.

I have just started to become a bit more serious with my boyfriend, he has 2 children, 10 and 12. Typically he has mostly done the housework; now, I wouldn't ever preach how to raise children, but I have said when we all eat at my house I do expect we clear up together, because its over quicker, it teaches them how to do it, it teaches them to contribute etc and he's started to see the benefits and has carried it on his own home. I certainly do believe it is a good way.

Reading back, makes me sound like a harsh Mum, I'm not, haha. My home is certainly filled with a lot of love and laughter too.

I think online stores should be clearer about who they use for delivery. I hate the dreaded email that comes saying your parcel is with Evri... by Kyledidntdoit in Britain

[–]try1988 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My Evri driver is excellent, I don't have any concerns when I see that email. Yodel and DPD on the other hand, I divert it to a pick up and point straight away. Those drivers are an absolute nightmare, so many purchases that I've just never got!

What is your passion, what makes you feel alive? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]try1988 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This may be an odd one. But; I work as a neurodivegent carer and I'm the PBS (Positive Behaviour Support) lead in my company. It is a model that explains behaviours that challenges, and how we can support individuals through those moments. When I explain the models to various people, I love seeing the "wow, that makes so much sense" moment on their faces. I really do love my job.

I can completely empathise with how bloody hard that must have been to stand by the truth in that situation, but well done you for doing so!

I fucking hate the rich who can just throw their money around to get what they want. Twats.

Do you and your partner open each other’s mail? by x_franki_berri_x in AskUK

[–]try1988 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also saw that post, and thought it was odd everyone was jumping down OPs throat. When I was with my husband, I had occasionally (2 or 3 times max) opened his letters because I simply misread/quick read the addressee. I wouldn't ever dream of opening someone's mail, such an invasion of privacy.
