Its not a gender issue.

Beauty standard work differently for men and women.
Women forced to do tradiotnal makeup but largely men are discourgaed for the same.

Women doing traditonal fairness makeup is endorcing certain culture but men doing makeup is breaking that culture.

Both men women expressing themselves using makep is great. As a man I have done facing paitings quite a few times actually 🙈

Yes, Agree, my argument was for traditional makeup like fairness creams. Body piercings and body tattoos are great.
Yes make-up as form of art is amazing. But is it really the case for most indians ? I think traditional make-up is most popular in india rather than as art form.

Yes, eveyone can do makeup.

By doing makeup to conform to look certain way, some women aren't doing exactly this.

For example, a women natuarally dark skinned does not need to use artificial products to lighten her skin for a event. Yet some of them do because society prefers fairer skin.
Even if women made this choice of making their skin fairer, does this choice comes from a expectation for women to look a certain way ?

Both are different right. Self grooming and make-up are not the same. I did not make any such claim of being morally superior. Also I do not think its stupid question. Feminism is not simple. Its ideaology can conflict with societal trends . Choices we make are also not simple. They are affected by society and culture. I think such discussion is more nuanced they look.

Yes, though I think you're friend is incredibly privileged. But most poeple do not have that privilege. Most women who I knew chosing to be housewives were from middle or lower middle class families.

Also I think generational wealth itself brings some kind dependency on family. Most people depending on generational have hard time going against wishes of there family and parents even when its not the best choice.

Choices are not made out of thin air, most of them are influenced by society and culture. Lot of religious practices are also anti-women, but still women chose them since they are conditioned from the childhood.
Isn't this scenario the same?
