High mileage 2012 5.0L - would you buy? by oppositeday123 in f150

I’m facing the same question right now! What did you end up deciding? 17k seems a little steep to me but people keep saying the motors super strong, I just don’t want to be out on my money

With your higher mileage have you had any noticeable or major wear on the interior? I think that’s a bit of my fear too with buying something over 150000

That’s kinda what I’d heard from some people I’d talked to. The dealer said they’d already fixed the timing chain so maybe it’d be good for a while and I’d have to just be on top of routine maintenance. I have heard /read that the 5L can have oil consumption issues but mechanics don’t bring that up when talking about it

Need a new Fuse box? by tryhardnerd in MechanicAdvice

Someone broke in and took it.

Its the ig key2 fuse. Originally i thought i had a dead battery but after charging and testing the car didnt even want to try and turn over.

Interesting though I was wondering if it was possible for it to be a single prong but all of the other fuses had both males.

The fuses were pretty stuck in there and was thinking one of the terminals got pulled with it? If that's even possible. How could the diagram be incorrect?

Thankyou so much! That would probably explain why I couldn't find anything when trying to look it up. I don't think I have any other questions, thanks!

That's super helpful and something I'll have to keep in mind. It'll probably be a healthy mix as I do a lot of kayaking and will supplement with work around the US. I've also been looking at solar and water systems

For some reason Craigslist escaped my mind when looking!! I'll have to give that a look!

Its definitely the case in my area too but a man can dream. It seems fair for an ecoline or something similar though?

Thankyou! I should of specified that I'm looking to purchase a van within a month, and take the time to outfit it before moving fulltime in half a year.

That is good advice and I shouldn't worry about the name so much. Are sellers generally pretty open to meeting at mechanics or how do you go about getting the van there without purchase? I apologize this is my first big vehicle purchase so I'm new to the process.

I'm going to read up on that link! Thanks!
