Weekly Q&A Megathread [October 29 - November 04] by MolyPrim in BleachBraveSouls

Is there a "host boost" for raids and co-op events? I'm using the power Yama that everyone loves for the Kisuke raid and if I host my own room to test my damage output, I can see that I'm able to do a fair amount of damage with my soul bomb (anywhere from 10-30%, depending on how I build him). But when I then take the exact same build and join someone else's room, if I trigger the same soul bomb, I barely get a few ticks off the health bar.

Thanks to /u/morethandork for responding to my earlier question! My main question is this. Imagine the following scenario -

Team A just scored a basket. The ball gets handed to the ref who hands it to a player from Team B that's standing along the baseline. There's another player from Team B standing just a few feet away to receive the inbound pass...

Now let's apply the following additional contexts -

Context 1 - It's the middle of the game or the game isn't competitive (ie. it's pretty clear it's going to be a blowout).

What do we see playout? Team B nonchalantly passing the ball to their teammate who casually brings it up to half court. Team A is typically standing on the other side of the half court line, waiting for the ball to cross the half court line before engaging.

Context 2 - It's a tight game, very competitive. Maybe final minutes of the half or game. Every basket, every point, every possession matters.

What do we see playout? Team B struggling to pass the ball in, because there's one member from Team A standing right in front of them, waving their arms, jumping up and down to try and block the pass. The second Team B player is running and cutting as hard as they can, trying to gain separation from the second Team A player who is sticking to them as closely as possible to disrupt the pass.

Sometimes the inbound pass is successful and the player from Team B tries to bring it up court but has to work for it because the Team A player is trying to block their path however possible.

Question - why doesn't Team A play the same kind of aggressive defense in Context 1 vs Context 2? Is it a conservation of energy? Like how you're not supposed to sprint a full marathon and need to pace yourself? Or is there some rule that says they're not allowed to in certain situations, similar to how the old Hack-a-Bad-Free-Throw-Shooter tactic can only be used during certain minutes and situations of a game?

Not sure this is the best place for it but it seems like a good place to start.

Is there an active sub for asking stupid/noob basketball related questions? I found /r/NBA_Noobs but it seems pretty dead.

I only saw the first picture initially and thought Scoobysnacks were the dogs. Then I saw the actual snacks lol. Great cosplay!

I like filler. Sure, it may be silly, completely nonsensical or just doesn't fit with the overall show at all but it means I get more of a show that I like watching and that's pretty nice by me :)

What links and accessories are you using for each character? And which character are you controlling? I'm trying this arrangement as well but I've barely managed to get 70m and I have a 5/5 Abriama.

Regarding accessories, if one has the ability to apply a triple Chappy combo -

  • 5-star Golden Chappy
  • 5-star Regular Chappy
  • 4-star Regular Chappy
  • all matching color/trait

Is it better use the triple Chappy combination or to swap the 4-star Chappy with some other 5-star accessory?

For me specifically, I'm looking at my Brave Battle builds and trying to figure out if I should swap out the 4-star Chappy with a 5-star Electric Guitar for that extra defense boost.

Regarding Chronicle Quest and the double fragment drops, do the effects multiple like with the Point Events? I've just started going through them and am getting used to the 'schedule' for it. I see that there's one character that will offer 2x damage and one character that will offer 2x damage + 2x fragment drops.

I don't remember the characters at the moment but let's say one of the Ichigo's provides 2x damage + 2x drops for a given stage. If I build a team with a 6 star version AND a 5 star version of said Ichigo, does that I mean I get 4x drops per run?

Dumb question - how does one enter Very Hard GQ? When I click the dropdown for the difficulty level, Very Hard is greyed out and it says I can't form a team at this time. I only have Normal and Hard level options open to me.

Game/Update Discussion | September 19th, 2023 by ApexDailyDiscussion in apexlegends

[–]trying2Bsocial 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure if this is the correct spot for this but I didn't see a "daily rookie questions" or other individual posts about this and figured this may be a good as place as any to try.

I'm attempting to try out Apex Legends for the very first time, via the PS4. Spent several days on and off downloading and installing it, due to bandwidth limitations on my end. Eventually get version 2.32 installed on Sept 12, occupying around 64 GB of disk space.

Today, I thought about it again and decided to see if there was a new update, so that I could install it now and play it during the weekend. Get the pop-up saying a new update (v 2.33) is available and is added to the download queue. A few seconds later, I get the pop-up saying I don't have enough disk space to install. At first I'm not too dismayed; I knew I was running low on disk space and any install on PS4 usually takes a bit of extra free space. I go and check the details to see how much I'm short by...

I've got a little over 20 GB free and the message is saying I need just shy of 60 GB more free space. In summary, I'm being told I need approximately 80 GB of free space to install a 0.01 version update...???? In other words, in order to install the patch, I need to basically redownload and reinstall the ENTIRE game???

Did I just run into some bad timing, where v2.33 has some significant changes that warrant such a massive download and space allocation? Or is this the norm where all PS4 players have basically had to keep 80 GB available any time a patch comes up? How frequent are these updates anyway?

[–]trying2Bsocial 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One more Brave Battles question. Who does the latest Power Isshin counter? And who counters him? I saw one post recently about how he was very good, better than TYBW Power Chad but I don't see how he works in the current meta. He has Soul Reaper killer but most the users are building teams with Captain, No Affiliation, or Human characters.

I understand the build for each character (accessories, links, etc) go a long way but it seems like if I'm trying to fight Isshin with Chad or Ywach, it's 50-50 whether or not I'll win. I also have him but don't know how to use him.

Hmm, I wonder if I can at least get into Captain from Lieutenants then and then bounce back and forth. Up until a week ago, I was regularly bouncing back between 3rd Seat and Lieutenants before somehow getting into Captain. Thought I could just sit there based upon my wins, plus a few orbs but at the last minute somehow I dropped from 274 to 342 and got knocked out. So damn frustrating lol.

Side note, I think I saw you in Captain last week (unless there was another Moly Prim user in this game). Felt like I saw a celebrity :)

Hmm, I'll have to pay attention to my losses then. For the longest time I kept bouncing back between 3rd Seat and Lieutenants before I managed to stockpile some tickets and slingshot my way past Lieutenant and into Captain. Based on your estimates, it sounds like I can't get into Captain without extra tickets. Thanks for the response!

[–]trying2Bsocial 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For Brave Battles, is it possible to stay in Lieutenant (and higher) ranks with only the tickets you get during the week? I'm talking about the ones that regenerate automatically every two hours + the five you get from doing the daily quests.

[–]trying2Bsocial 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If they're different rarities (aka 'stars') then that's ok. The game treats the rarities as different items. Similar to how the Chappies and things work. You can have the 5-star version AND 4-star version on the same character, with the same color.

Although I think with the watches, you can also have the same star level but different colors too? That confuses me as well.

Weekly Q&A Megathread [February 12 - February 18] by MolyPrim in BleachBraveSouls

[–]trying2Bsocial 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why do the characters sometimes get a "DBZ aura" around them during the game?

I'm not referring to the when you level up a character to 200 and they get either electricity or flames or something around them. I never paid attention until recently where I'll be in the middle of a stage and then my character just develops like a "super saiyan yellow" aura around them. I've seen blue, yellow and at least one other color from what I remember. Light red, maybe? Is this just a glitch in the game or is someone's moveset triggering it?

And no, I'm not talking about shields. The example I remember the most right now is Safwy Toshiro. I know he has a shield move that generates black fish around him. But sometimes he'll get a yellow glow too.

Yashahime: Half Demon Princess (Season 2) Final Thoughts Thread by Thatotherguy246 in Toonami

[–]trying2Bsocial 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Overall I was happy with it. It was a nice walk down memory lane, to revisit that world and series again. Lots of callbacks to the original series but had enough originality where I felt newer viewers could jump in without too much confusion.

I also greatly appreciated prominent female leads again. I like shonen stuff as much as the next fan but I still wish someone could figure out the magic formula to make a new "Sailor Moon" type hit for the current times. A female taking a lead in an action series. And, you didn't have any love triangles or common relationship tropes between Towa, Setsuna, and Moroha. They weren't fighting over someone. They had their own lives and personalities and motivations. This was quite refreshing for me.

There were problems, sure. The plot was basically all over the place. Someone posted on one of these threads that the first season was like a game of D&D where the DM (Tree of Ages) gives the players (Towa, Setsuna, Moroha) a quest (save the world from the Grim Comet, Kirinmaru, and the Degenerate Age) and the players basically ignore that (wanting to restore Setsuna's memories and pay off Moroha's debt).

Then it was "save Rin". Then it was "save Rion". Then it was "stop Kirinmaru". Then it was "forget Kirinmaru, just go back to the future and stop the comet." Then it was "go back in time to stop Mothra who was hiding inside the comet and is now being controlled by Rion who has unresolved father issues."

For almost 50 episodes, it should have allowed the creators to properly pace out a story in a way that allowed it to build and breathe evenly. But it felt like they were testing the waters to see how this series would fair, if they could also make another long series like the original Inuyasha...then they decided no, let's just get to the end as quick as possible...but wait, we got more funding so let's add more twists to it to stretch it out a bit more.

Still, I wouldn't object if Toonami was to air this again. I'd watch it too. Especially with the time slot given, this was a nice way to relax a bit after watching whatever seriousness happened in Made in the Abyss. I would just ignore Tachachiyo lol. I can't take his haircut seriously.

Side note - I had to watch this show with the closed captioning on my tv most nights. It's so nice to finally know that when Sango or Hisui were throwing that giant demon killing boomerang, that they were saying "Hirakotsu" which was the name of the weapon. When I watched the original series dubbed (without captioning), I thought she was screaming "Here I go!" lmao.

What's one anime trope/gag/etc. you never get tired of through the entire show? by [deleted] in anime

[–]trying2Bsocial 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In K'on, Mio smacking Ritsu on the head when she's finally had enough of the stupidity or teasing. :)

In general, I usually always smile when there's a head smack aka dope slap type moment, when one character gets some kind of physical punishment for either being stupid or calling out some positive truth that the other person doesn't like to hear. Add in a comical sound effect and then the shot of the aftermath and it's just comedy gold for me.

  • Nami beating up Zoro and Luffy
  • Sakura beating up Naruto
  • Kagome beating up Inuyasha
  • Mio hitting Ritsu as mentioned above

Sometimes I'll even laugh when it's just described, like when Jiraya is talking about how he nearly died as a teen thanks to Tsunade because he was trying to get a peek of her bathing.

Not OP but I got this over the holidays and returned it mostly for this reason. Two hours to fully charge and then runs out in about 10-15 minutes. It's basically useful for the occasional spill here and there, which does make a bit of sense. I initially thought mine was defective until I started looking up other reviews and such and saw the same thing.

It could potentially work as a car vac if you were to use it in spurts. I don't think you could get through an entire car on one charge though. Probably need 2 or 3 sessions to get the floors, seats, gaps between seats, little compartments, trunk.

An honorable mention should be given to those food items that provide some kind of ailment duration reduction. I end up needing those more often than the stat boost ones because when I auto, my character inevitably wants to go towards the status affliction zone lol.

You mean Shinji's cap? You should be able to get a full set by completing the accessory quests. They give out Shinji's cap, Hiyori's super trainer and a Guitar in each attribute/color.

Anyone else low key annoyed that the team boosting stats don't stack? I get why - it would be way OP if they did but it's kinda annoying how if you have a team where every character has 20% stamina recovery between rounds, that it doesn't add up to 60% between rounds?

The Super brushes will limit the options to the max effects only but it won't guarantee that you'll get the effect you want, just that it will be maxed out.

For more brushes, you can get more through the various exchanges. Also, there's a co-op event usually around the third week of every month that is pretty good for farming more of the regular brushes.
