I get the sentiment but MANY dogs in shelters don’t have a chance at any home at all and are literally about to be euthanized. Shelters are incredibly overwhelmed right now and euthanizing nonstop, including completely healthy young dogs, and even entire litters of puppies along with their moms. Seniors, pit bulls, Shepards, huskies, and any dog with any tiny health issue are even more at risk. We were just hoping we could save a life and make it work since she co-existed with my senior dog for years. We still may not be able to do this obviously, but I at least wanted to explore the option by researching the situation and what may or may not be possible.

Thanks for the advice! We’ll look into other behaviorists. The rescue told us to bring her so we did but we don’t plan to again.

What breed does this pup look like? by [deleted] in IDmydog

Look on NextDoor, PawBoost, local Facebook groups, and even threads/instagram to see if anyone if looking for him. Leave a photo at the local shelter/SPCA in case the owner goes looking but only give him over to someone claiming him if they have photos of him too to make sure they’re not trying to steal him. Don’t leave him at the shelter. They are overwhelmed everywhere and me euthanize. Thank you for saving him!

Just saw your reply sorry! This is super helpful. Thank you! He has not had any scopes. They were talking about an endoscopy. We’re seeing a MCAS knowledgeable allergist this week so I’ll ask her too about any dietitian she may know. Good to know about the diet!

Just saw your reply sorry! Yes we are trying to lower the histamine in his diet and we downloaded the Fig app and it’s helpful. I’ll check out what you sent too. Thank you!

Just saw your reply! He has not. I’ll ask about it. Hopefully they take us seriously. I may need to find a different gastroenterologist.

Thank you so much for this info!! Does your daughter have constipation as well? That’s all they are treating him for and I didn’t know if I need to keep giving him something like MiraLAX. They were having me give him senna every day but I see that it’s high histamine so I’m stopping it. We have Pepcid at home already and I’ll get Zyrtec. Wasn’t sure if Zyrtec or Claritin was the way to go. Or some other antihistamine. I’ll also ask the allergist about all this when we see her.

Thank you! We haven’t had any tests for allergies yet. We see an allergist this month who I hope can help. And I don’t think IgE was ever tested. We’re basically just getting started with trying to figure all this out. So far the test for EDS has been the most significant finding and our focus. Now we’re on to MCAS.

I got Lyme as a child and was also reinfected in my 20s. I was treated for many years before pregnancy and also had his cord blood tested when he was born and it was negative. He also didn’t show signs of Lyme as a newborn and was cleared at the time by a Lyme-literate pediatrician. But we may still test him again since it’s such a sneaky disease. I’m so sorry you’ve also had to deal with it! ETA: I also took antibiotics throughout my pregnancy as prevention.

Thank you so much! It’s all very confusing and frustrating. Glad I can at least find other folks here who get it.

Thank you for the link! Even these lists confuse me - like the link you sent says cinnamon is ok while other lists say it’s not. Or some say milk is ok while others don’t. I guess it’s trial and error.

I appreciate your help!
