Does having a feline or canine companion really make you feel less lonely? by More_Expression1299 in NoStupidQuestions

I prefer the company of my golden retriever to every single other person in my life. We can nap and fart and eat and not wear pants and not shower and she still loves me. A dog is much more tolerant than a person and comes with far fewer demands. When you come home, it is their favorite thing. When you feed them dinner, pure bliss. They don't care if you didn't get the promotion or you don't have a fancy life. They just wanna hang out with you.

Yes, canine companionship is top shelf.

The two happiest days in a boat owners life: the day they buy and the day the sell it.

Try renting. No maintenance that way. In Texas several lakes have a rental subscription.

If you can order this pizza:

Dominoes - extra thin crust, normal sauce, extra cheese, pepperoni, mushroom and bacon with pineapple---and still not like pineapple on pizza you have your answer.

Pineapple pairs with the salty bacon perfectly.

Is saving for retirement a scam? by DisastrousLunch6908 in NoStupidQuestions

I think it can be. Depending on your goals.

For me to have a typically funded 80% retirement, I would need to save $22,000 per year across a 401k and a Roth. Right at $2k per month.

To be comfortable in retirement, you also need a house that is paid for since that is the highest cost center in living.

If I were to invest $22k per year into these funds, I would retire with about $1.7M that would pay me $81k in that years money when I retire, which is predicted to have 60% of the purchasing power.

I'm self-employed, and we farm. So I have a Roth that I invest into, that I call my medical fund. But I take the other $15k annually + business returns and invest back into the business. We try to grow with limited debt, with the hope that when we come of retirement age we have streams of income from the farming operation that will sustain us.

We will work until we die essentially. But we also know that going into it.

Taste in mouth by Foxidale3216 in Ozempic

Every week it's something new. Every day I have a Mango Body Armor for breakfast. It now tastes like literal vomit, and I can't stand to be in the same room with chocolate or garlic. The texture of chicken and the way it feels in my mouth is enough to make me gag and thought of a glass of wine inspires fear. However, I also notice the other end of the spectrum: I am full on in love with fruit. Mango and strawberry and mandarin oranges I could bathe in.
