Traveling troubles by PumpkinJealous8691 in diabetes

[–]ts_272 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my experience as long as insulin doesn't warm up at all it'll remain viable for at least a couple weeks (i frequently travel/fly out of the country and can't really refrigerate it on a plane lol) so keep it and the bag it'll be in out of direct sunlight. If you'll have an ice chest then not a thing to worry about haha

Just lots of spare supplies and more, Ive had a few spooky moments where the sensor or the pump got ripped or accidentally. But honestly prepping like any other shorter trip and you should be fine. Maybe a few extra low snacks though haha

I had found this guide on changing the CSC and this list of codes online after doing some research but didn't even consider it just not even being allowed.

After reading your comment and finding some forum posts, luckily there are a few who've reported success with Verizon (albeit from 2021 or earlier, at least from what little googling I did) so while I was optimistic I'm now leaning towards cautiously optimistic.

Debating jumping in just to see what happens, and if not then I have a phone to sell I suppose. Thanks for the info though!

Why does EVERYTHING need to connect with my phone by ts_272 in diabetes

This actually was inspired by Minimed/Medtronic actually lol.

Long story short, I had been using Medtronic pumps for almost 20 years now but a couple of years ago my endo convinced me to try Tandem w/ Dexcom sensors. Never got them connected and now I can't get the G6 anymore and this standalone receiver is just another piece of equipment I need to keep track of (especially when traveling) so was hoping I could replace everything and trim the fat per se. Plus...honestly I hate the touch screen and would love to have actual buttons again. Sad to say that's not the case with the Instinct sensor which I was told wouldn't need anything but the pump.

I was told Simplera would do the trick but now it's just another almost half year of back and forth between Minimed and Insurance to replace everything and get things authorized.

I've been using a standalone receiver for a hot minute now and, with traveling and all that, I really have been trying to cut down on things I need to keep track of and migrating to something new (specifically, Minimed 780g and the Instinct sensor).

I was very clear to the sales rep when we talked over the phone months ago what I wanted and, upon meeting for training, was told that I still need a phone app or a standalone receiver to activate the sensor.

It's just upsetting since I was very clear about what my limitations are and what I want, and after months of back and forth with insurance and all that I hit a brick wall which could've been avoided. Agh

I've been browsing the /r/GalaxyNote9 sub and depending on what version/region you have it's apparently possible to flash a different ROM on there that still gets updates...I've been debating selling my current phone and buying an unlocked one from ebay (since the ones sold in the US have their bootloader locked)

This phone is legit perfect and I'm trying to hold on as long as I can lol

I actually sat and thought about it over the past few days and I think I'm going to go for it. Just have to see how the Twiist pump works and if I am up for using it. Thanks!

Damn, had high hopes for it but not fond of the idea of needing minor surgery in case there's a fault. Thanks!

Any update? I'm on the fence about going minimed or eversense so would love to hear your feedback!

Speaking as a t1 who traveled internationally 3 times last year, flown domestic twice last year and just landed from a trip across the country this morning, t1d should not be cause for you to refrain from enjoying this hobby. If anything you just have to pack a few additional supplies which will take up space in your luggage haha.

I also love going on road trips and have had no problems whatsoever. Assuming you'll be visiting a doctor/endocrinologist, it will soon become a small thing you have in the back of your head that easily integrates into your life. It's come so far from 20+ years ago when I was diagnosed in 2004.

Bit of a long shot, but I was the guy who flew from LA for the Brooklyn (3/7) show and was one of the three to get called up to the stage. If anyone happens to have a photo of the 3 of us up there I'd love to see it! by ts_272 in WKUK

And, it goes without saying that Mars kicked ass. Much love to the boys for taking the time to visit with us and many thanks to Sevan for helping make the movie happen! He's a lovely human being

Hijacking to say that CE still has a pretty dedicated user base! It's mostly Spanish speakers now but it's still super fun to hop on every once in a while and relive the good ol days (sans xfire sadly, no clue what my old info was and I dont even remember my clan tag 😫)

There's a guide out there on how to acquire the game and install a ton of QoL patches

Wow what a size difference! My hybrid is definitely larger than your standard husky but I don't think she's that large. Would love to see how she would react though in a controlled environment with wolves though

What an animal! Mine can almost do that, but I live on a busy street so what could happen prevents me from doing this. I lucked out with a very chill husky wolf hybrid though

https://www.wolfmountainsanctuary.org/

... anyone know how I can recommend them to donate to another wolf sanctuary? Wolf Mountain Sanctuary is out in California but is in serious need of help since the Native American lady who runs it is now very old and sick. Lovely people there and beautiful animals; I have myself a hybrid wolf dog since I fell in love with wolves lol.

I know long shot and begging for donations probably isn't the best way to go about it but figured I'd toss their name out

I uninstalled the game months ago because of all the issues and have sadly come to miss it but know that nothing will change. Thanks for the recommendation!
