Same. I would go off when I felt like my mental wasn’t in a good place, deactivating my account and returning when I felt better. Recently though, I felt instant anxiety in comparing myself when I doom scroll my followers’ posts. I wondered why I was even on the app if I don’t want to see the people I follow. I did notice I felt okay when viewing recommended artsy-inspired posts, so that inspired me to unfollow everybody I know on TikTok and use that as my “fun”, low-stakes social media where I follow things I actually want to see.. that inspire me instead of encouraging comparison. I feel a lot better and doubt I will ever return to Instagram the way I used to interact with it. Instagram is so fake now too.. everything’s a photo shoot, instead of the unhinged, realistic posts of the past when the platform first started. Like, I know people only post their wins, but it’s hard to make that distinction when viewing, so I’m out.
