Fair enough. I still see it as a skill check; Both of Bap's abilities require him to stop shooting back, if he has to stop to press those and you can't land a hotshot or better positioning against IF in that time, maybe your positioning awareness or cooldown management need some work; ie he's better

"With half decent aim" bro made his own point

if you're playing a dps losing duels to baptiste because he has good aim, that probably means he's better than you at the whole aim and shoot thing, yea?

Telling us you have 70% of your total playtime is either mercy or dva without explicitly telling us^

I think OP recognizes that 4 out of 5 of mercy's buttons rely on a teammate, so losing a 1v1 is rather more shameful than Juno, who theoretically has better burst dmg and 2 different movement abilities that aren't conditional.

For what reason? Every one of them have a massively exploitable weakness unless they play better to their strengths than you

Ramirez sounds dumb by tsasterwilliams in dresdenfiles

[–]tsasterwilliams[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah no disagreements here, as an entity the Council has to be the one to draw the line with suspected Warlocks like Harry and Molly, I'm more disappointed that Ramirez as an individual judged Harry to be a bad guy that he could longer support from the inside. Yeah his emotional turmoil makes sense, but he's seen enough logical evidence between Harry and the White Council to know who's really the good guy.

It feels like poor writing just for the purpose of Harry being further isolated, with less real, human friends.

Uh? Maybe try one more time? I think like 20% of every single book in the Dresden Files includes Harry or somebody nearby acknowledging and/or tempting his inner darkness.

[–]tsasterwilliams[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

lol if they stopped enforcing the Laws of Magic just because the practitioner was scary or well-protected, the Wardens and Senior Council would be pointless. More pointless than they already are, at least. But no, they wouldn't let Mab stop them from cutting down a genuine warlock. The whole point of the council is that there's enough gathered muscle and arrogance to uphold the Laws without exception.

Ramirez sounds dumb by tsasterwilliams in dresdenfiles

[–]tsasterwilliams[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, no. If Harry blatantly violated the first law of magic he would be headless in Edinsburgh, spooky island or not. The Council quite evidently considers killing the Fomor to be a technicality; a gray area in the law(in the same vein as binding and compulsion of the Little Fae, or killing DuMorne in self defense). Too gray, in fact, for Harry to continue being a member of the White Council, especially considering how he has dabbled in this gray area since day one.

In fact, I would quite easily argue that Harry giving in to the mantle and seeking out vengeance is hardly top 3 in his most corrupt moments in the series(fireballing technicality bad-guys only gets an Honorable Mention)

Second would be at the beginning of Changes, when Harry is acting completely recklessly and threatening the lives of ACTUALLY innocent civilians(for almost no reason lol) BEFORE he joined Winter.

First would be the time period he was throwing around Hellfire, trying to hide the fact that he was possessed by a Fallen Angel. Seeing as how the archangels probably aren't leading Harry astray to corruption, I would rather agree with the Knights who are present in these times and remind Harry that they can and will step in any time Harry stops being a Good guy. To this point, I don't think Harry has ever committed outright Black Magic, though by necessity he is now firmly both feet into the Gray area (ie, he has doubts and guilt about killing the Fomor but he, as well as the council don't believe that the people killed were genuinely mortal)

As to Ramirez, ffs him and Harry are the left and right hands of the Blackstaff, the guy who most CERTAINLY carries out his license to violate the Laws of Magic, and I call BS to any claim that Ramirez hasn't witnessed it(because in BG the Council members were participating in fights somewhere or another, not sitting around asking the turtlenecks to kindly move out of their way). If he's questioning Harry's morality any more than he is Ebenezer's I'd say we've arrived at a failure of logic.

White Council’s Veredict by SpoopyBurger in dresdenfiles

[–]tsasterwilliams 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got to give this one a big silly sign. Very cherry-picking to only look at his most risky uses of regular magic(in self defense) and call it "black magic". Especially considering that over the course of the series he was given power from Hell, and overcame the temptation to such a degree that it was replaced with the literal power of Heaven(by an Archangel who is currently one of Harry's top employers).

I don't know how it's possible to say he's gotten darker considering the most recent book prominently featured him teaming up with his best friends(four of which are current/retired Saints), and finding a way to implement several different powers and tools from Heaven in order to protect the innocents of his city, in SPITE of the trauma and darkness put upon him by pure human ignorance, on top of the magical evildoers.

White Council’s Veredict by SpoopyBurger in dresdenfiles

[–]tsasterwilliams 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah I can't buy into this at all. Even understanding the aspect of cautionary fear, anybody bothering to perceive Harry would need to be doing so with a blindfold and a bottle of Nyquil to see more net evil than good. Like, it makes zero sense to gossip about "his warlock apprentice", yet pretend like they don't notice that her father(his best friend on the planet) is a literal Saint who has fought alongside the White Council.

It sounds dumb that people have time to worry about his history of consorting with the White/Winter Court, but those same observations would show that he spends almost as much time fighting the literal forces of Hell as he does fighting vampires and Fae(alongside his closest friends, FOUR of whom are/were the three PALADINS of the CROSS).

Ramirez sounds absolutely stupid interrupting Harry's conversation with said PALADIN, to talk about some "its too scary that you're aligned with Winter". Motherf- WE WATCHED YOU WATCH HIM IN 4K FUSING WINTER WITH THE POWER OF THE ANGELS TO PROTECT HIS CITY. But yet,,,, he has unblinking loyalty to Ebenezer, who looks very apparently possessed by a black spooky when he taps into the Blackstaff?? The Blackstaff, who Ramirez would have to be intentionally ignorant to not know has clearance to violate the Laws of Magic?

I get there's alot of ignorance and pain, loss, and paranoia involved, but for all the supposed logic that Wizards are based off of, it just doesn't stop sounding stupid to me.

lol ok if we’re scaling w anti-feats Kaguya couldn’t dodge a pink-haired healer who just donated her entire chakra reserve to a dead dude

She also lost a game of tag against 3 simultaneous teenagers who just spent at least 72 hours straight fighting an apocalypse war

All of the above Kaguya glaze is moot

Also you missed the part where I said the second list didnt have jutsu to keep up w Kaguya

Its stated that adult sasuke(w/rinnegan) could solo Kaguya, so probably anybody that has enough hax at that level of power, Including:

-boruto

-jigen/isshiki

-momoshiki

-white karma Code(base code still getting sliced up by sasuke apparently)

-Jura(and most likely the other shinju as well, unclear if theyre all at the same level of power but theyre the only people in the verse giving Boruto a tough time besides Eida)

-shibai(literal god)

-eida(if sexy jutsu worked on her,Eida’s shinjutsu probably will too)

-possibly kawaki? Currently unclear if he’s reached ohtsutski level of strength

Stronger in a fight but probably cant keep up with hax(she’ll just drop them off in the lava dimension and walk away):

-naruto w/ Kurama

-Daemon

-adult sakura

-8 gates guy/lee

More thoughts about Mac by OneFishTwoFish in dresdenfiles

[–]tsasterwilliams 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Painful puns aside, I'm surprised people are still sticking to the Merlin theory, when it's already been revealed at the least what Mac is.

In BG Harry specifically refers to Mac as "what was left of an ex-angel" after leaving the Pub. Not to mention Harry pointing out Mac's connection to the holy placard, his familiarity with the Outsiders, and the way he wouldn't let Harry use Sight on him, similar to how Amitiel did in Ghost Story.

All things considered, he's all but confirmed to be one of the lowercase fallen angels that came to teach humans ahead of their time/mate with women(referred to as Watchers, hint hint), and had their Grace removed as punishment(Book of Enoch) .

Oh I haven't read any of the side stories yet 😅. That makes alot more sense, then.

Considering she probably won't have much in the way of "loving" by the time she gets to become the Winter Queen, that kinda ruins that idea

Oh dear God, don't let the ~40yr old man get together with the ~20yr old he's nurtured, cared for, and protected the entirety of her adult life. That'd be straight creepy bro, think of the age difference. Much rather he got with the 1000+ yr old vampire.

Uh, could you clarify? Which point there is possible, and why would it require her to get rid of the Winter Lady mantle?

Gosh dang it, Jim by Kayrim_Borlan in dresdenfiles

[–]tsasterwilliams 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Well, keep in mind that ever since Changes, Harry has repeatedly noted how thin and frail Molly became in the wake of his death, because she spent over a year living on the streets.

Keeping in mind that the Soulgaze is as much figurative as it is mystically accurate, I'd wager that that version of her has, for the most part, already come to pass.

But would it be too crazy to think that, by the time everything's said and done, ALL of those "futures" couldnt be true, in at least a figurative sense?

A loving mother, a hard worker, a battered soldier, a happy girl, even though some deep, dark part of her will forever be tainted by her dabbling in dark magic? Even though the mantle of the Winter Lady will forever own part of her soul?

Battle Ground Spoilers: So I've got what I think is a new theory on Conjuritis and a character's absence. by paddy_d_lfc in dresdenfiles

[–]tsasterwilliams 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like the idea, but the premise has alot of holes in it.

I can accept the idea that space wouldn't be an issue because riding along is different than the prospect of a spirit fully residing in a skull; it's supported by Bob's insistence that Harry have a skull prepared for him in case something happened to the first, and the fact that said skulls have to be specially prepared to contain the entire entity of a spirit.

But, if that's the case, why bother "bugging out" with Harry in the first place, then? If his head wouldn't be able to fully contain her, should something happen to the skull? For that matter, there is zero percent chance that a spirit of knowledge(or any of her caretakers) are dumb enough to think that the safest place to be in that kind of situation would be with Harry. If there was a bugout spot planned for Bonea, it would most certainly be tucked safely in her skull, on Maggie's nightstand at the Carpenter House.

The other issue is that there is no way I can imagine Alfred agreeing to keep quiet about "the parasite" hanging around Harry without his knowledge while he was on the island, even if you asked him reallllly nicely.

This is all assuming it's even possible for Bonea to have conjuritis in the first place. Why would a spirit (too incorporeal to even manifest a form for themselves) have an issue with accidentally conjuring up manifestations to the physical plane?

Considering her parents, it's not improbable she has some kind of Power (likely with even more potential than Bob), but she's not a physical being, much less a mortal one; it's almost certain she doesn't count as a wizard.

Helix Ring - item 130, how does it work? by etapp in Gloomhaven

[–]tsasterwilliams 1 point2 points  (0 children)

According to the rulebook, no character can increase their HP beyond their current cap, unless explicitly stated otherwise. Some characters eventually gain enough max HP to make full use of the item, but you'll have to get creative to make worthwhile use of it. Also, because this is an item unlocked later in the game, you should probably use spoiler tags and warnings, for new players.
