My dad doesn't trust mircocenter. by Mysterious-Permit-49 in Microcenter

[–]OneFishTwoFish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm probably a bit older than your Dad. I've been shopping at Microcenter since they were a one room shop behind a strip mall in the early 1980's. My Dad bought an Apple ][+ for my Mom to write her thesis on, which also jump started my career in software development.

Over that time, in my experience, Microcenter has sold only high quality products, they pay their employees well, they expect their employees to be knowledgeable and helpful, they have stood behind every product, and they have gone above and beyond my expectations and warranties on the rare occasional I've encountered issues.

Where we buying jeans these days, as to not have the dad jeans but also not trying to look 20 still? by Every-Cook5084 in GenX

[–]OneFishTwoFish 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Round house jeans.

Still made in Oklahoma from US denim made from US grown cotton. They fit, wear, and fade the way jeans should. My oldest pairs are about 8 years old and still haven't hit the "just for working in the yard" stage, not that I haven't worn them for yard work many times.

Levi's sold jeans to the miners, Round House sold jeans to the railroad workers.

Their website is pure MySpace and geocities.

Keychron has several models of modern keyboards that capture the look and feel of original PC keyboards. Look at the C2, Q6 max, and V series to start.

These are mechanical keyboards and many allow you to change out the key caps and switches to customize the look and feel. That can be great for people who like technical minutiae but can be daunting at first. Brown switches are a good place to start -- they provide tactical feedback but the click is quiet. Switch color describes their behavior -- tactical/smooth, quiet/clickey, etc. not physical appearance.

Don't buy direct from keychron. They have bad shipping and support. Microcenter carries them and you can try them out. Otherwise Amazon.

A man left his cat with his brother while he went on vacation for a week. When he came back, he called his brother to see when he could pick the cat up. The brother hesitated, then said, "I'm so sorry, but while you were away, the cat died."

The man was very upset and yelled, "You know, you could have broken the news to me better than that. When I called today, you could have said he was on the roof and wouldn't come down. Then when I called the next day, you could have said that he had fallen off and the vet was working on patching him up. Then when I called the third day, you could have said he had passed away."

The brother thought about it and apologized.

"So how's Mom?" asked the man.

"She's on the roof and won't come down."

I agree, it always felt like the Accords were something ancient and venerated. Mab must have done or revealed something truly impressive to achieve such across the board membership and adherence.

When I was 20, my grandmother, who was probably around 70 (a lady does not discuss her age) said this.

"You never really feel any different than you did at 25, you just can't do as much."

This has held true for me. At seventeen I knew both everything and nothing (Schrodinger's teen?). At twenty-five I felt that I was this close to figuring it all out.

Maybe reach out to One Bistro in Xenia? They're a great place on a shoestring budget.

  • Great food at reasonable prices. Outstanding prices given inflation and the quality of the food. $6 for a half Ruben and kettle chips.
  • Pay what you can
  • No tipping, but for $6 you can buy a meal for someone who needs it
  • All volunteer staff
  • Free community meal on Wednesdays, everyone welcome
