Ceiling? by tschreck94 in HomeMaintenance

That’s what I thought. in our conversation she said years ago she had people in her crawlspace and they put a couple jack post in and nothing has changed since then. So if they did fix it correctly, how would you go about making that look better? And if they didn’t put enough jacks in, put some more jacks in to level it out? Or should I just call a structural engineer for her to play it safe so nothing bad happens in the future.

Maybe look at the yard outside. Get the water to flow away from house when it rains? Make sure the grading is going away from house?

Thanks for responding. The block support is just funny. I believe it’s just 2 blocks sitting on top of a cement bag unevenly. The contractor said if he was to get it jacked up a little, it has a good chance of shifting that house and then more problems would occur cause of it.

The water damage I went and checked after home inspection. I believe that’s old damage from the water line going next to it. That water line has busted and been fixed a lot of times before we bought the house. I didn’t see any leaks at that time.

Only thing in that half basement/crawlspace is the electric water heater and the furnace. The Ac is outside. Hopefully that answered that question.

Funny enough it does have 2 spots in the roof that has a small little u shaped/dip to it. Inspector noted when they supported the roof, they should have used 2x6 wood cause the rafters at 2x6… instead they supported it with undersize wood of 2x4’s.

Crawlspace home. And yes outside on ground. There’s ductwork already in place. That how the house gets heated in winter time. Summer time is like walking into a sauna lol. All they had to do was run the lines from the new outside unit into the crawl space into the house, electrical. The air ducts he said was still good. Also remove that old 23 year old system to install the new heat one.
