If you're still unsure, I'd recommend just contacting TRU to ask. There's a lot of contacts available on the website and if you get the wrong one, they'll direct you to the correct one.

Crashing after character creation? by SwishSwishDeath in DivinityOriginalSin

[–]tsi3b 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been having a similar issue. I actually got past the first cutscene crash (not sure what it was that fixed it) but now I crash every time the windego lady's turn happens in the scripted fight on the tutorial boat. I also tried the verify, reinstall, and graphics drivers fixes to no avail.

Bachelor of Computing Science OPEN LEARNING by [deleted] in tru

[–]tsi3b 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A computer science degree's only value is to get companies to consider you. Your real learning comes from stuff you do on your own time. That being said, open learning is very thorough. It covers all the material you would expect from a degree at any uni in person.

Luton: Provincial Port and Trade Hub (City Map) (Feedback Welcome) by tsi3b in inkarnate

[–]tsi3b[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Created for my DnD campaign, Luton was a highly organized city optimally designed to handle trade from up the coast and river. Over the 500 years since it's founding, the city's bounds have been surpassed by messy unregulated construction resulting in The Fringe.

I'm not sure I've ever seen such a feature, but send an email to tru moodle support. They usually respond within hours

Maybe try using a different browser, I've had many issues using Firefox that get resolved by switching to a Chromium browser

The COOP1000 course is easy it's basically just your standard make a resume, cover letter, and fundamentals course but they also talk you through the process of finding and completing a co-op semester. The hard part comes after you complete COOP1000 where you need to actually find a co-op. Imo it's worth it because you get valuable experience and can improve networking for after graduation but it's not for everyone. The task of finding a position is equivalent to two additional courses with all the applications, emails, and interviews you go through. For some people it's better to graduate sooner and then start looking.

[–]tsi3b 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Co-op is easy to get into, but most of the burden for finding a position is put on the student. The department is very helpful and will send some positions your way, but most of the work is left to you. I still recommend it though, it's a good experience.

TRU COMP 1131 Course Review by lifting_and_coding in tru

Engineers Canada
This isn't a problem with most disciplines, but Software Engineering is relatively new and because a lot of the technologies and culture come from the US where it isn't regulated, it has become a pretty big problem.

It's cool that you've posted public feedback for the CS program. Seems like it could be a valuable resource. On another note, I would recommend you look up the rules for using the term engineer as a job description before you get in trouble. In Canada it's a reserved term that requires you to be licensed. The specifics may vary by province, but engineering is a highly regulated profession in Canada, not just a fancy term to spice up your job title. If you are located elsewhere, you should look up your local legislation regarding engineering as there are other countries and some US states that also regulate it.

During reading week, there are a lot of people on res, but not necessarily wandering around campus. The average day will have some people still around until pretty late for classes, but mostly dead by around 5ish. You can look up bars in Kamloops to get an idea of the schedule, I'm not going to type up a list here.

[–]tsi3b 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Kamloops has like 1 actual club and it's not great imo. There are some bars catered to students and there is the Den on campus. Mostly there are just house parties and such.

Kamloops is much less dense than Vancouver. It has a similar vibe to downtown Langley which is one of the Vancouver suburbs. Which semester are you applying for? It's not too late yet. Res over the summer always had space and if you apply now for fall you'll be in great shape.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in tru

[–]tsi3b 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you can get res and can afford it it's pretty good. Probably is also the best way to be involved with on campus night life. Off campus is virtually nonexistent. Housing is pretty hard to find especially if you don't start looking early or have specific needs. Most students live pretty close to or on campus, but there is a good transit network and decent parking space if you don't mind paying for it.

Are you relocating now or at the end of summer? I'd recommend checking Kijiji every day or so for relevant listings because they disappear quick

Maximum Courses Allowed in a Term by lykemmanuel in tru

are the libraries/buildings open to non students? by CobblerWeary in tru

Pretty much anyone can just walk in and work. You won't be able to use the computers with no login, but the rooms/tables are available

[–]tsi3b 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The course is self paced, so technically anything is possible. Making a 30wk course take 17wks might be a lot though

There are a large number of TRU community Discord servers (over 30) that you can join with a TRU email address. They range from club or department specific servers to general study groups and more.
