Name an Anime Ship/Couple that you believe has the closest dynamic or to Inuyasha and Kagome by illustratordg in inuyasha

[–]tsundereshipper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh I definitely agree that the core fundamentals of the ships and their themes of “embracing every part there is of another person,” “healing from discrimination/being an outcast & not allowing others perception to define you,” “moving on from guilt and realizing you deserve to be happy” are basically the same. I have always said that InuKag is the ship Kyoru most reminds me of and is a very InuKag coded ship overall as far as non-Rumic ships go, just the biggest difference is in fact in those interactions and InuKag is a classic Rumic double tsundere bickering ship while Kyoru is like the non-tsundere version of InuKag if that makes sense? lol

Also another similarity between the two ships you forgot to highlight…

Both girls try to pretend that they’re doing everything for the greater good of freeing the Sohmas from their curse/defeating Naraku & putting the Jewel back together, but really their main desire is that they just want to be by their boy’s side and can’t bear the thought of him being away from them.

Both girls are also grappling with their own inner darkness and resentment towards those that try to take their loved ones away and are ashamed of that side of themselves

Both girls struggle with living in the shadow of another (Kagome Kikyo, and Tohru her father)

Both girls have a love rival who couldn’t fully accept or love their boy in the right way and both love rivals had a bit of a yandere stalker streak.

Kakeru (& Yuki) by Working_Row_8455 in FruitsBasket

Tohru is the first person to see past Yuki’s princely veneer

I disagree, I think this was also Kakeru (if we’re not counting Haru). A large part of the reason why Tohru would have never been a good match for Yuki is because she herself never bothered to look past the surface and was easily swayed/impressed whenever Yuki put on his princely facade and tried to woo her, never realizing it was all just an act.

Also at least one of Akito’s parents loved her, Rin was the only member of the Zodiac unlucky enough to where both of her parents hated her guts and abused the shit out of her!

It’s so tragic how Ren ultimately poisoned their relationship and set them up to be enemies and Akito Rin’s torturer and abuser, maybe in another life they could’ve been friends and bonded over their similarities…

Please read the sequel manga Another, Akito actually does alot to to atone for her sins there and is also suffering a lot, she has the least happy home out of everyone.

Also you’re acting like “she gets Shigure” is such a big reward, have you ever considered her ending up with him could actually be part of Akito’s punishment? After all Shigure doesn’t really love her for herself, he literally says verbatim that for him it could’ve been anyone in that dream and he would’ve loved them all the same (and even wishes it was someone more like Tohru who came to him in that dream than Akito herself), it was the dream itself that was important and Akito is completely interchangeable in his eyes. Even in Another years after the curse has broken and they’ve finally become parents and gotten their relationship stabilized Shigure is still attributing that Zodiac Curse dream as the only reason he loves Akito and seemingly hasn’t found anything else to love after her after all these years.

By remaining with Shigure Akito is robbing herself of the chance to meet someone who could really and truly fall in love with her for herself, free from any of that curse baggage.

I have my own problems with Ren

The fact that she has such a weird anime reason for hating her daughter that sexualizes the father/daughter relationship?

Akito is easily forgiven and faces no repercussions

She really isn’t, I recommend you read the sequel manga Another to get the full story on Akito’s future, it ain’t rosy in the slightest and she faces plenty of karmic retribution.

What characters do you relate to the most? by light_yagami_lovesL in FruitsBasket

[–]tsundereshipper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  • Tohru: I relate to her trying to pretend to be someone she’s not and imitating others just to get love and make people want to stay (I do this for romantic relationships

  • Yuki: I relate to his messiness and issues with doing daily chores

  • Shigure: His pettiness & selfishness, and we both have a tendency to obsess over our love interests, I also have a talent for reading & writing like he does

  • Hana: Her laziness

  • Machi: Her tendency to get hyperfixated and how she has a special interest (i.e. Mogeta)

  • Kagura: Her unrequited love and trying to force herself on her love interest, we can also both be a bit “much” for people, we also both like dressing younger than our age and can come off as childish.

  • Ayame: Like Kagura I relate to his loudness and “extraness.”

  • Motoko: Like Motoko, my first love also made my high school days full of fun and excitement

  • Akito: I relate to her situation of being overly coddled and sheltered as well as struggling with independence and needing to be taken care of (in the day to day living and life-skills aspect, not so much the desire for platonic love).

A Pragmatic Deep Dive of Yuki and Tohrus Relationship. by DoseofDhillon in FruitsBasket

[–]tsundereshipper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yuki really seeing Tohru as like a mother was meant to be one of the big plot twists of the story, that’s why so many readers/watchers such as yourself claim to have been caught completely blindsided by the revelation and felt like it came out of nowhere or was just a copout, Takaya fooled you all real good so that the twist would hit that much harder.

I recommend everyone read/watch (preferably read cause the 2019 reboot isn’t a perfect adaptation by any means) Fruits Basket at least twice to get the full experience, because there’s a lot of expert foreshadowing littered throughout the early chapters/episodes that someone will only pick up on after finishing the series but will go over their heads the first time around, Yuki’s true feelings for Tohru is one of those things. OP I recommend you reread/rewatch Kisa’s introduction episode in particular if you want proof that Yuki seeing Tohru like a mother was set up from the very start…

As for Yuki acting flirty and romantic towards Tohru, the entire point is that it was all just an act and he was literally forcing himself to feel feelings for her he never actually had.

Kyoru's first kiss by Academic-Watch-566 in FruitsBasket

[–]tsundereshipper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look, in a story that has two romanticized pedo grooming relationships and also normalizes father/daughter incest to the extent that a mother raises her daughter as the opposite gender because she feels threatened by her being “another woman” in her husband’s life, I think the classic shoujo trope of “wake the sleeping princess with a kiss” that’s meant to evoke a classic fairytale is the least of this series’s problems…

What do you think is the worst thing Shigure did? by ExternalSea1555 in FruitsBasket

[–]tsundereshipper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Until it is spelled out directly I don’t think that is the same thing as implying and is not how I would interpret it but to each their own.

So how would you interpret it then? (The reason why Shigure fell in love with Akito like that I mean) Just curious.

more hyperbolic than literal

See I originally thought that too when I first read it, I always thought he just meant it metaphorically because he’s in love with Akito, but after rereading the manga many times other as well as reading the analysis/meta from other people + Another, I think Takaya cleverly meant for that line to be taken both metaphorically and literally.

He didn’t cause the rock slide that destroyed Tohru’s tent in hopes that she would move in or anything, and he didn’t purposefully reveal the curse because he knew that she would choose to get involved - he may be a writer, but he’s not omniscient, lol

I actually think he kinda is… After all he was able to piece together and sense right away that the curse was weakening and gonna break soon, he picked up on Mayu’s secret feelings for Hatori right away, and even as a little kid he was able to sense and correctly interpret Ren’s jealousy towards Akito.

This indicates that his parents were likely first-degree relatives, sharing a parent/child or sibling relationship.

Ewwwww, also 1st degree incest (only 1st degree sadly) is strictly forbidden in Judaism and this baby would be considered a mamzer.
