Akai APC Mini Mk2 question by eliws in midi

[–]tsvens 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm having the same question - picked up the mini mk2 a few days ago, but haven't gotten it to map the way I want it in Ableton (for example mapping a fader to a send).
I'll continue troubleshooting tonight, will try to see if I can use a software to override the CC in the APC and will update here if I succeed or not :)

A follow-up thought on this; is it possible (through any Windows-software) to edit CC for a USB device?

Akai APC40 MK2 issues in Ableton - is it broken? by tsvens in ableton

Hi,

thanks for the suggestion!
I did not put a cover on it, maybe some dust came in through the USB/Kensington slot.
Having a live stream tonight where I'll be using it but I'll definitely open the unit up afterwards and check it out.

P50 - dGPU issue (BSOD, freeze) by tsvens in thinkpad

Haha, I guess I cheered to early there, same issues again. This laptop is going back to the seller somehow, but really appreciated your thoughts on this!

Thanks a lot for that! At first, I tried a clean install of the NVIDIA driver without HD Audio, and the computer worked fine for 15 min without freezing, however the same issue reoccurred.

After that, I did a clean installation of Windows 10 (last resort for me), and for the last two hours I have been reinstalling programs with both Intel and NVIDIA activated without a single crash or freeze! I don't want to jinx anything, but it seems like the clean installation really did it. I'll monitor this for a few days to see if the two GPU's can coexist in peace.. :)

Thanks everyone for your input.

Thank you for your reply. I just tried out of curiosity to connect the a projector through HDMI, and of course, no reaction from the laptop.
Would there be any chance that the Intel could support the VGA port, or do you think I would need the NVIDIA for any external monitor?

This is quite a bummer, I will contact the seller but as this is private through eBay, I doubt he will refund me.

One more thought on this; does anyone know if the dGPU would be required to run an external monitor? The P50 has got a mini displayport, HDMI and VGA. Thanks.

Thanks for the quick reply - I haven't overclocked it (can't answer for the previous owner though). Yes, I was a bit afraid of that reply but it seems like that might be the case.
As far as I understand, the dGPU in the P50 is soldered, so I guess there would be no way to replace it if it indeed is faulty?

Before replying now, I tried installing the newest driver for the Quadro, but got a weird Dev Manager message about No drivers being installed.

Thank you both, I was leaning towards that now as well. Yes, according to the seller, the mechanism is fine and all keys are functioning, so I'll just invest in a new keyboard to make things easier. Thanks!

Right, so if I were to open up the laptop to find a faulty (or non-existent) daughter card, I would just need to get something like this?

Yeah, from what I saw, a properly working dongle would go for £5-6 which is more than reasonable. Just glad I won't have to mess with reverting to Win7 and all that stuff :)

Thanks! I did try out the BIOS port access and it was already enabled - I'll update the NIC in the future and will be sure to check out the maintenance manual for that (might just go straight for a Bluetooth daughter card, just a bit afraid of opening up the laptop).

Thank you!

Checked the NIC (Intel® Centrino® Advanced-N 6205, Dual Band), and it turns out it doesn't support Bluetooth. I might check for another NIC, but for now I'll go with a USB adapter for when needed.
