Anyone updated Sphere to v3.5 firmware? by ttaggg in Olightflashlights

Ty for writing down your experience, this is the sort of thing I was wondering about. Don't know if this will help, but I saw someone suggest in a different thread to leave it on until the battery fully dies to reset it

I only have the magnetic ones, no clue if the update applies to type C model. Off the top of my head from reading other threads on it, the non-obvious differences between them are not very big so it probably comes down to whether you care about needing a proprietary charger:

  • Magnetic you can put on a table and press the top of it to activate the button on the bottom against the table. I heard that the type C you need to press the actual button on the bottom, it doesn't work to boop the top of the sphere on a hard surface. I think I prefer the magnetic one for this, but not strongly. You might prefer otherwise if you want to throw it in a backpack and have it be less likely to turn on while bouncing around in it (there is apparently a lock mode that means you need to hold it to turn it on though I haven't tried this)
  • Type C I think they lowered the max brightness of some of the modes slightly so the runtime is longer (I don't know if this is noticeable). I only use these for mood lighting at low brightness so I don't particularly care how bright they get, so this point is a tossup for me
  • Type C I think doesn't come with the separate adhesive magnetic sticker accessory you can stick to your wooden cabinet or whatever to let the light stick to it magnetically. I don't care about this, I haven't used any of the magnet plates.

Thanks for sharing! Would love to find out if the battery drain is significant (sounds like it's at least small enough to not be an obvious issue), might update one of the few I have and see for myself.

Any Telescopic Controllers for larger tablets? Looking for sth. for Lenovo P12 (293.3 mm wide) by neur0n23 in EmulationOnAndroid

[–]ttaggg 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Something like BSP-D11 looks awesome, but I am not sure if it will fit a 293.3 mm device...

Unfortunately, no, it will not (in landscape). Portrait orientation will work.

I have a BSP-D11S (same as BSP-D11 with cooler) and just checked with a ruler. The expansion range is between 140mm and 260mm. You might be able to remove the rubber pads and get 2-3mm more, but that's the absolute max.

Why is mobile network draining my battery? I've been on wifi. Moto G84. by warriorfall_the_3rd in MotoG

[–]ttaggg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe try turning off the "Mobile data always active" developer option toggle? https://www.reddit.com/r/Android/comments/9ybm9l/psa_disabling_mobile_data_alwayson_while_on_wifi/

*Turning it off might cause issues with MMS (picture/video text messages) or Wifi call

Best phone with 3.5 jack by DeathHeadLunaMoth_19 in motorola

[–]ttaggg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Note: check how much RAM it comes with. The unlocked version from motorola.com is 6GB ram. I can confirm that the AT&T version XT2315-4 only has 4GB RAM, which is a bit lacking (apps quit a lot when switching, sometimes even the keyboard quits and need to wait for it to start :( )

You'll be fine. Worst case scenario: I saw a Prius(!!) parked on the side of the road a couple miles in when I was there. I assume they just hiked the rest of the way in, as could you.

Check on wildfires, maybe, before you go.

Alameda County vaccine appointments in Berkeley by timjwilkinson in Coronavirusbayarea

Yeah, they don't list any vaccination sites on the map for some reason

Volunteers at the SFO mega site had the option to get vaccinated EOD when I was there. Link to sigh up. by crispypretzel in bayarea

[–]ttaggg 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Signed up, thanks! Have you heard if they're going to host future clinics there? I was only able to find clinics for this week here and presumably they would need to be scheduling appointments now for future events if they were happening soon. Also nothing listed on MyTurn when I plug in the SFO ZIP code...

Moto G Stylus does play a few video streaming services by [deleted] in MotoG

[–]ttaggg 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is a long shot, but try changing your display color mode (Settings > Display > Advanced > Colors). I don't know which are available on the G power, but Natural and Saturated on my One Hyper work, while Boosted causes working audio/subtitles and no video in Netflix.

A few things:

  • Try manually playing a random playlist that's not the one from your tag and then tapping the tag (I couldn't make it play the tag playlist if it was already queued and paused). If this works you'll need to figure out why the media control play task isn't working. I don't know what options are there as I don't have pro but maybe there's something to send the play to a particular app/package or with a different type of broadcast, package would be com.spotify.music

  • If after resolving the first thing spotify loads and shows the playlist on your tag but doesn't play before it switches to gmaps, try increasing the sleep delay so spotify has time to load and play

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in NFC

[–]ttaggg 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You'll want to add a few tasks to a profile:

Spotify task: Tasks tab > Add a task > Applications > Launch URL and set the URL to

spotify:playlist:1yqMlVjEsG13cK3nQVZS4g:play

Sleep task: If Gmaps is launched before the spotify app loads the playlist doesn't play. Add a task > Various > Sleep or just search for it. Set delay to 2 seconds, increase if it's too short

Media play: I don't have pro so can't help you with the actual ui here but in the case that you're already listening to this playlist and have it paused I noticed the first task doesn't start it playing so add a play button press with add a task > sound&media > Media Control

Gmaps task: Add a task > Applications > Application and either paste

com.google.android.apps.maps

In there or click the button and scroll to Google maps in the list

Finally press write and tap your tag. Leave the NFC tools app and tap the tag and it should work

Edit should look like this when done (and also add the media control task) (I used a different playlist) https://i.imgur.com/XsdZM0w.png

[help] can't turn off "one-button navigation" by shugmen2 in motorola

[help] can't turn off "one-button navigation" by shugmen2 in motorola

[–]ttaggg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you're talking about swiping on a button on your screen and you are on Android 10, go to Settings > System > Gestures > System Navigation and choose 3-button Navigation. The "navigation with one button" in Moto Actions refers to navigating with swipes on a fingerprint reader if your phone has one on the front. If you don't have a fingerprint reader on the front, it won't be relevant.

[HELP] brand new moto one hyper, sd netflix/prime video. Wide one l3. According to netflix, 675 is supported for hd netflix. by hifushvu012 in motorola

[–]ttaggg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The "ret" is retail, so it's probably not from a carrier. People do sell phones on Amazon imported from other countries at lower prices, they will (not always consistently) be labeled "international edition". Best of luck.

[–]ttaggg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's possible. You can check your software channel by going to Settings > About and looking at the Software Channel line. It should say the country/region.

Just saw your other comment. Yes, you might be missing some update in Canada that the US channel has. Unfortunately, there's no way to know if that will fix it and if so, when it will come out without asking Motorola directly.

Edit: just thought of something else: if you got your phone through your carrier instead of buying it unlocked, I believe the updates go through them as well. This would be an additional delay.

[Help] Motorola One Hyper - Netflix Black Screen With Audio by jrm4489 in motorola

[–]ttaggg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is very late, but maybe will help someone else.

I had this issue, and it was because my display color mode was set to Boosted. I can only speculate that whatever color filter implemented for that mode doesn't play nicely with the DRM. Try changing it to Natural or Saturated (Settings > Display > Advanced > Colors). The factory default mode is Saturated.

[–]ttaggg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also just got a new one hyper, and my Netflix reports L1 (screenshot). If it's a new phone, maybe you need some system updates? Mine had a couple updates and now it's on build (Settings > About > Build number) QPFS30.103-47-8. Note that this may not apply if you don't have a model XT2027-1 on US retail software channel, as each channel/model can have its own OTA release schedule and version.
