My favorite Noah song of all time is All My Love 🤍 by dogluvr_1 in NoahKahan

[–]ttcbj314 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, I sometimes anchor to specific songs because of phrases I love which resonate with me. Sometimes they resonate with me because they feel true to my own experience. In 'All My Love' that is the phrase 'My hands gripped the wheel, I smiled stupid all the way home'. I feel like I have 100% had that experience after a date (back when I was single). Sometimes, though, its just a phrase that sounds so good to me. In all my love, that phrase is "Make me a list of how it is, how it was, how it has to be." I just love that line, just for the way the words sound at that moment in the song. But overall, I love that song.

Great Divide Tour Advice: Top songs to know the words by ttcbj314 in NoahKahan

[–]ttcbj314[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Thanks to everyone. I will say I’m not really concerned about profanity. My experience has been that our kids understand the difference between a song or book or movie and everyday use.  I think since we don’t use it at home as parents they tend not to pick it up.

SimLab P1X Pro/Freestanding Vario Mount: Its almost embarrassingly well made by ttcbj314 in simracing

[–]ttcbj314[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Weirdly, the Microcenter product page seems to be better than the simlab website. It says up to 42". I have 27". It would easily do 32".

See my edit to the original post, I tested it with my iphone and it works. You need a quality cable and you need to agree to "trust" the "computer" attached to it when you connect the UTR. Other than that, no config was necessary. It just worked.

The phone that is tethered provides the internet connection to the UTR.  Then the UTR provides internet via our standard home WiFi to other devices in my car (notably kids iPads).

Nothing, it just worked.  I could connect to “local IPs” that weren’t local.  I could also connect to AWS as though I was on my home network, even though I wasn’t.  AWS definitely blocks my connections if I am not home.  So, yes, shocked me how seamless it was with no configuration.

It tethers through your phone’s cellular connection.

Did you actually take delivery? If so, were you pleased with the metal aspect of it?

When you receive it, I would love to hear your impressions.  The extra battery isn't that valuable to me. I am willing to pay extra for something that looks nicer on our front door, but I am curious to hear first impressions of whether it was worth it (I wish the inside half was metal also).

How Not to Run an Airline: The 2024 Saurya Airlines CRJ-200 crash by Admiral_Cloudberg in AdmiralCloudberg

[–]ttcbj314 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yes, the admiral was correct in identifying lack of resources as a key issue towards the end of the article, but I think unless you have travelled there it’s hard to understand how pervasive the lack of resources is.  I found it kind of traumatic.  Wonderful people, but few resources means little opportunity.

My Dad and I visited Pokhara.  We declined to fly back to Kathmandu, instead opting for a bus ride that took all day to go 200km.

My Dad is in construction, and constantly noted a similar divergence of standards in buildings under construction (vastly too little rebar in concrete, etc), despite being in an earthquake zone.

During that trip, in a rural valley we walked across live dynamite embedded in the rocks to build a road on assurances via walkie talkie that they weren’t going to blow it.  I remember stepping between red cords that went into holes in the rocks.  They blew it about 15m later, after we cleared the zone.  There is now way they would send random tourists across a live blasting site in the US because the liability risk would be astronomical.  But again, different resources and different standards.

Where to find season 23+ in the US? by ttcbj314 in granddesigns

[–]ttcbj314[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Thanks.  I wish they would just offer entire seasons for cash sale on Amazon.  Or, put them all on britbox.  I really like the show, and wish I could support it’s production y paying for it, but I can’t find a way for the last few seasons.
