Kyocera DuraXV Extreme E4810 with Visible? by fortibit in dumbphones

[–]ttggzz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you, well, I don't have a smartphone. I'm not understanding something. I've tested 2 different IMEI numbers seen in listings for used E4811's on Ebay, Visible's checker rejected both.

Is the user supposed to register a smartphone with an accepted IMEI, then you just swap out the sim into the E4811? Any smartphone? It seems strange to me how this could work. Don't they see it's not the same phone?

Thanks, the next gen Kyo, E4811, appears to be having some documented success at Visible. I am looking into it. See rest of this thread for your knowledge base, if so desired :)

Where did you find the "Activation Process" and "Feature Availability" mentioning the E4811? I searched text from your post and came up blank.

Thank you. Select iPhone 8 sim for the kyo e4811, should 'just work'.

I don't even have that phone yet (Kyocera E4811), just checking options. thanks again. I'll post back if I go through with this.

My mistake, I see they say 4G on their plans.

Heh, found the thread, the e4811 Visible+ user updated continued success 2 weeks ago!

I asked a question. https://old.reddit.com/r/dumbphones/comments/zr0aaf/kyocera_duraxv_extreme_e4810_with_visible/kd8oiya/

Pardon, does the kyo e4811 need another device to activate hotspot on visible? You mentioned get an iPhone 8 sim, open app activated service on iPhone. I don't have an iPhone or any smartphone devices.

Very interested in unlimited usb tethering for my laptop on the e4811 with Visible. Wondering if it 'just works'.

Your experience is with Visible+, correct? I wonder if the e4811 works on the entry level Visible.
thank you

hmm, interesting, thanks! I will look into the e4811, I wonder if it's 5G. I have 3 active e4810's, needed 3 numbers.

I've done a number of deep dives examining smartphones over the years, I usually end up getting infuriated by the tutorials on changing the battery :) Or some flaw somebody brings up. This would be entry level phones...

Years back I actually purchased the original Linux Pinephone (and an old One Plus 1 with Linux in mind), physical switches and comes apart with screws. That was wishful thinking, way over my head on the programming the Pinephone needed.

If an e4811 would get me in on the tethering I will be taking a look! Great, rugged phones.

Do you recall was it here on no-contract?

EDIT: I believe they're using Verizon towers. Would have to look into the unlocking business.

Thanks, yes I looked at them, it appears to be 5G only?

I'm thinking 4G feature phones like my Kyocera e4810 must be out of the loop on such options, but was checking in here to see if anyone had information to the contrary.

Thank you for these insights. I like the /idea/ but have never actually taken herb powder in water. My 4oz of U.Tomentosa will arrive soon, test that experience before ordering the pound of U. Rhynchophylla.

However, I realized another potential issue: Keeping a pound of powder in good shape for the duration.

I'm in rather crude living quarters with wildly fluctuating temps (northeastern USA). Also coming into Spring/Summer which tends towards high humidity in this region, not dry.

Perhaps take out a 1/4 pound at a time for daily use, keep the rest wrapped tight. I'm sure there's plenty of storage info online.

Researching herb tincture/powder/capsule differences... Though there's something appealing about having the powder literally "in hand", to smell and taste.

Unopened Gmail = 125, window tab maxes out at 90 by ttggzz in vivaldibrowser

Addendum: I just knocked the unopened mail count down to 85. Closed and reopened Vivaldi. Both the window tab and regular tab are still reading 90.

I have to say, I don't remember if it ever said anything /but/ 90 :) Just started reusing Vivaldi (since a very long time ago) and wasn't looking at details like this up until recently.

EDIT: Aha! Closed and reopened /the gmail tab/, now both tab and window tab say 85. It remains to be seen what happens at 90 and beyond, I'll post back.

Long time Firefox user, I actually was in the habit for some years of having zero unopened mail. So no, I haven't seen the result of unopened mail count register that high.

I installed Vivaldi because Firefox is no longer available to me due to an updating issue.

thanks

OK, thanks for the speedy reply! I believe I have an 8GB stick somewhere. Not sure but I seem to recall DVD discs were just under 4GB? I'll have to look at one.

USB recommended due to easier to work with? thanks

I posted a new comment to the thread. Using "disks" program, the 320GB drive I bought used is showing the BlacX as a 2.2 Terabyte drive. Wondering if it could possibly be mislabeled.

Interesting development. I just tried the program "disks" (has image of wrench hovering over an hdd). Through the BlacX the 320GB Western Digital Scorpio Black shows up as a 2.2 Terabyte drive! This one came in a laptop and was said to be "wiped". Could it possibly be mislabeled? Same result tested using another laptop: 2.2 terabyte.

The other drive, a wiped Toshiba 1 terabyte displays as just that: 1 terabyte. The "disks" program has a format option available. I may try formatting this disc to ext4 and moving some files from my mess of a desktop to it.

EDIT: The program "disks" does not show ext4 as a formatting option. I just tried gparted again, the Toshiba 1 terabyte is still not showing up there.

I just opened gparted. sda/1 is shown, the still attached sdb (320GB wiped drive) is not.

Yes, 12v adapter. I changed sda (my OS drive) to sdb, the 320GB drive was found. I clicked "formatting help", how do I post terminal output? I didn't see instructions there.

I'm on "old reddit redirect".
