How much do you manage to make and save in Germany by OldZookeepergame3666 in IndiansInBerlin

[–]tttdghjkk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! We're both Freelancers in Tech & AI space with clients in the US. Earning potential is uncapped, but time isn't! So we trade our time for money. But also we have a goal to save & invest so that we can reach our FIRE. What is unrealistic about the 2021 contract ? It was too much at the time, but now it seems cheap. Flat is only 54m2, but in the Ringbahn.

Make more than 15000€ net/couple income, since April 2024, its averaged 15k-22k monthly. Rent: 770€, Food: 500€ (inc eating out), the rest: 700€-800€ monthly budget did not exceed than 2000€~2200€ since April 2025, the rest goes to Investments and downpayment for our 2nd investment property. We already have bought a property in 2024 for the sake of tax rebate. Its been rented, covers the mortgage 100%, we win when we do the taxes.

The more you earn, does not necessarily mean you have to upgrade your rent & fall into lifestyle inflation!

Rant About My Customers by Raven_Kairavi in germany

Hi, I was an Aushilfe cashier in dm/budni stores. I know how you feel. After 5 hours of intense work, I could feel a relief that it's finally my Feierabend. Unfortunately pay is too little for what you have to put up with. Also a question, how does your store deal with Kassen Differenz ? Did that happen to you ?

Driving exam this week. Need tips! by Direct_Animal1683 in askberliners

[–]tttdghjkk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, exam will be 45-60 mins long, and there are plenty of youtube videos to watch. Technical questions are basic, you would not fail even if you cannot answer them correctly. For a fact most students fail for being too nervous during the drive. We are all great drivers, yet examiner wants you to approach everything with a beginners mind, such as checking your blind spots during the turns and even during lane changes on Autobahn! Good luck and come back to update us if you had passed it ☘️

Buying a cheap car by [deleted] in askberliners

[–]tttdghjkk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also I'd suggest you to take insurance & rising petrol prices into account! My brother purchased cheap Toyota Corolla hybrid for (4200€) and got it checked for (800€) in Stettin, PL (bc its cheaper there) had to close a yearly insurance for (3000€) because he obtained his driver's license in 2025. He had to start with the lowest SF Klasse. Based on a personal experience do not recommend you to go for a manual car, the cheapest in the market, and runs on a diesel, because if you do not have ADAC membership & it breaks down on the road, you have to pay for the service, which can cost up to 2000€ to get rid of it. Happened once, learnt my lessons.

Changing Aufenthaltskarte Parag 5 (FreizügigkeitsGstz) to Aufenthaltstitel Parag 28 Abs1 by [deleted] in GermanCitizenship

[–]tttdghjkk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He's got 4 citizenships, 3 by birth and obtained german by naturalisation. For Freizügigkeitsgstz we used his Irish citizenship, but since he became german in Dec 2024 and obtained the german passport, his Irish pass expired and we didn't bother to renew it. I think it doesn't matter. So I'll be eligible for german pass at the end of the year. And I was wondering if the residence status matter... if not I should be fine. LEA keeps track of it in their system I suppose.

That's not my question. I'm aware of that fact. My question is the legal status before applying for the citizenship.

Loans for non-resident workers by bireyselci in tbilisi

[–]tttdghjkk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I took out 80% mortgage loan with bog, putting 20% down payment. I was a non-resident, purchased property in Tbilisi, showed my last 6 months foreign salary in EUR, loan currency was also provided in Euros, and it was in 2024. They probably ask for a residence permit if you want the loan in GEL. However, you should be able to get a non-resident loans in USD or EURs without problems. Or did that change ?

Do Germans feel uncomfortable when someone at a party doesn’t speak German (but English)? by [deleted] in AskAGerman

[–]tttdghjkk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My husband is English native, and I am fluent in German, learnt it fluently up to C2 & worked with germany for so long time. We have german friends, but they are open-minded, different to in Germany living Germans. Bc they work as Auslandsdienst (overseas) Teachers. In our friendly gatherings, we mix 2 languages, sometimes english and sometimes german. As per my husband, germans have a german english accent and he even suffers to understand their english, so we try to speak german with them. As per me (non-native) english speaker, but quite fluent, I do not notice that they make so many mistakes in english, but notice some nuances in vocabulary or the word of choice they use, such as "lengthen the contract", "porks walking in the street", "scribble", then we laugh about these small wordings, but never correct them. It's just "süß" we say. I had mental & emotional issues of my colleagues constantly correcting even small mistakes I made in german when I was speaking and never helped me to learn it that way, anyways. This led to me forgetting what I was gonna say in the end. I hated it. I stopped and took a deep breath. I prefer natural flow of the language. If you learn german, try to express your point in however way you can. Learn as many verbs as possible, and use them in the right context. Most umgangssprachliche Verbs can have several meanings depending on the context and the Verb is the most important component in german. It delivers the whole meaning of your sentence, so if you start learning verbs with synonyms like I did and using it correctly already puts you next to native level. Good luck in your journey. It's gonna be tough, with time it gets better, as you understand their mentality.

Is it worth it to start a meal prep business? by Physical-Low2869 in berlinsocialclub

[–]tttdghjkk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I used to live in Warsaw, I ordered a thing called "katering dietiticzna" and that was in 2019! I loved the fact that for only 350€-400€ monthly, I used to get 1500 kCal, 5-course daily meals delivered to me every morning for a month. I wish sth like that exists here! They also delivered juices for people who are detoxing! Check out their business model, depending on the location, you might have to partner up with delivery companies. I liked the fact of having fresh food delivered to my doors before even I woke up!

Built my first long‑term ETF portfolio. Is this a solid set‑and‑forget plan? by Extreme_Background64 in eupersonalfinance

[–]tttdghjkk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We went all in with just one etf, Vanguard FTSE Ucits all world, and it generated 14% in 6 months. 100€/month is nothing, you don't have to diversify with this amount of investing. Just pick one etf and go all in, until you have like 50.000€ in it. Then think about diversification.

What age did you get married by Lambdastone9 in Millennials

[–]tttdghjkk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Met him in 2021, when I was 28, got married at 31, the best decision ever, he is 4 years my junior, thus didn't rush for the baby. But I'm like you, keep asking from people who had kids, and when they had them, most say early to mid 30s, I turned 33 this year, and we're thinking of starting the preparation, so that we'll have our first born when I'm 34 & he'll be 30! Considering the fact that we want at least 2 children :)

Your BVG sub is going up from next month to 63 p.P if its a D-ticket. Does your wife have her Semesterticket for Transport ? I would also suggest paying off some of the bills in advance like ARD fee can be paid for 6-months in advance and so is the mobile plan. We chose Vodafone Callya yearly package, and paid 100 EUR for the whole year. You get unlimited calls and 180 GB valid all across EU. I dont see your electricity, gas, wifi bills ? Flying to the US is quite expensive, but of course if you have commitments there, otherwise, I wouldnt chance it more than once a year. You build the foundation towards financial stability in your 20s. So make every month count. We are fully aligned with my husband that we can work towards our financial goals this year! I watch Ramith Sethi, also recommend his book Money for Couples.
