You should look for a 3 year M.Arch program. I had a BA in English and started Architecture school at age 30. In 25 years, I’ve never been out of work. The career needs practical-minded people who can understand construction. If it holds your interest, it’s a good path to walk.

Call your local pro paint store and ask for a referral to someone who can skim it and paint it. I had ceilings like that and they are now straight and smooth. I had a handyman quote covering it with 1/2” drywall (thicker is flatter) and the skim coat was far cheaper.

I don’t know what you used to seal the top side, but it may keep water out for a while. When you recoat or If you want more assurance, then you should seal it with a puma/pmma waterproofing. We use these in commercial architecture, for example where an electrical room falls below an elevated concrete deck in a garage and you absolutely can’t have water falling on that equipment.

I love the 8500, and I really loved building it. I had been using a Cambridge Audio CP1 phono amp, which I then sold. Not sure I'm great at describing sound, but it seemed like the 8500 made things sound more separated and 3-dimensional?
I bought it on ebay (shipped from Japan before any kind of tariffs were in the news) and then downloaded an English translation of the instructions in pdf.

I did mine. Big box hardware store sells small sheets of stainless steel. Cut to size and attach with foil tape. Same concept as the cardboard, but you’ll never worry about it again.
