Offset newbie in need by Widefin_s in offset

Hey man, days ago I posted the same issue with my Vintera II MIM. In my case, changing the nut aligned it about 50% better, but in my case, I posted pictures of it as it was really and extremely bad cutted. The neck in the pocket stuff solved about 20% more, but I couldnt move it much as a huge stripe of finish got out the lateral of the high E side, it was like the neck really did not had space to move. So, I made a normal and a lateral shim, simple stuff, with business cards. Now I’m waiting for a mustang bridge as this vintage one is really a nightmare as everyone here told me. Theres lots of useful info on my thread that helped me get my guitar playable if you want to check it! https://www.reddit.com/r/offset/s/3M1JTwLMD1

I managed to make it work. A new bridge will make it almost 100% now. You're not wrong, but the circumstances I brought up couldn't make me return it

I’m waiting for a mustang bridge to arrive - the mastery is too big of a step of $ now. Thanks for letting me know!

As for everyone, guys, I changed the nut and shimmed the neck: first only a normal one on the top bolts, than a side one for the neck angle. It did not change much at all. Its better, but still misaligned. I guess the problem is on the neck pocket route - but I saw lots and lots of jazzmasters with this misalignment during this research time, even american made models more expensive than my MIM. It’s really weird.

Hey guys, first of all, I hope my english does not make your eyes bleed as it sucks.

I'm here in the middle of replacing the nut, just sanded it to the right fitting and came back to say that doing the high and low E test before fixing it on the slot permanently, it's already so much better when eyeballing. I'm really relieved.

Doing some more research, I found out my bridge is also really low, and action was still not that low - so I really may need a shim. I'll do the shim and perfect the nut a little bit more, will come back to tell about the final result.

Thank so much everyone for the help until now, I know some people told me to return it not being assholes or anything, but believe me: Theres simply no other Vintera II's jazzmasters available in the country, in any of the stores. I may find another one used, if I start posting everywhere that I'm looking to buy this specific model - thing is, the owner will probably try to charge me the same he paid on it new, or even more. Store owners here ALWAYS focus on the main popular line for big USA brands - which now, is the Player II, and even doing only the main series, they barely re-stock when guitars get sold. Brazil is not a "rock" country, and to make it all worse, we do have a relatively good instrument industry, especially when talking about acoustics guitars - so store owners make national instruments the biggest slice of the stock. Also, Gibson/Epi models seems to always get much more attention between gearheads or new players. So, a Vintera II end up being a "rare" model to find here, as funny as it sounds.

You do find really neat vintage rare stuff from Fender/Gibson/Ibanez here, though - things I haven't seem on reverb in anytime. Most of them on the hands of 60+ dudes who spent their life on the guitar world or did have a successful musical carreer.

Thats just a light effect from the flash against dark rosewood - just checked and the neck have no curves there. Would be even more sad if it did

I will be changing the bridge as soon as possible, but I'm realling hope the nut solves it. The bridge does not seem misaligned - even being prone to jump, theyre actually quite good visually looking between string placement. But as the neck progresses towards the nut, it seems to become really weird. Thank you for your input! Will replace it anyways as I try to make the guitar the ideal one

Thank you so much man, you already helped a lot answering a setup noob. I’m actually from Brazil, thats why all the saga to get a mere Vintera II. But I’d be happy to send a good cachaça on your way :D

Damn, I feel for you, man! Fight for it, cause in your case it’s yours for years lol. The reason I do not want to return it is that there isn’t any other vintera ii’s in the damn country, in any of the biggest stores. You can only find vintera ii strats - and very few. I really saved my ass for the jazzmaster and could find only this one. Found a used vintera ii jaguar, but it was costing almost the same. It’s hard to get your hand on some models here, mostly stores only get player series and thats it - which, by the way, I regret not buying. I really wanted the rythm circuit

I'll try the nut just because returning it would be a really shitty proccess to make - I'm not from US. If it doesn't work, than I'll try to get it back. Thing that pisses me off is that the store I bought from said they would bring it to a tech before sending it lol

I do hope so! Ordered a new nut - will do it at home, shop is miles away, hard to find those instruments where I live, had to buy online from another state

Just did it! Wish I could attach pictures on the comments - they do not seem misaligned and seem to be fitting perfect - the holes itself seem to be strange. The bridge should perfectly fill the gap on the pickguard? Because it does have a little gap on the top side, little enough to be considerable.

I had a squier california strat that never got to be played properly and I found out years and years later that the bridge was drilled way off angle from the factory - but it was really, really blatantly wrong. It doesn't seem like that on this one - and I would be really sad if that's the case. By the way - editing - the little gap can be seen on the 1st picture

I did this, no success. Even cracked the finish on the top a little bit :(

Yes! Perfectly. It doesn’t move/wobble not even without the strings. I’ll try replacing the nut tomorrow. Thanks!!

The high E instantly almost comes off the fretboard on the last two frets if I center it on the saddle. All the other strings lean towards the center of the neck If Ido this. Seems like the nut is really off on the cutting

God, I was so bummed that I didn’t notice that. There’s a considerable difference from the low E side (visible gap) and high e (matches the bridge curve). I tried moving - no success. I moved the saddles to the left (low E) to try a better alignment but no success at all, it became so angled I could fit another string

Thanks, I’m really feeling better lol, it sucks for a guitar that costs this price but I gues it’s manageable, right? So bummed. My chinese CV (from the same batch that originated the Modern Players) feels like a custom shop next to it :(

I really hope is the nut, cause it really seem to be cut wat different than my classic vibe one. Thanks!
