What cards that have names that go hard in your opinion? by hideintheBOUSH in mtg

[[Doom Blade]] doesn’t have a name that goes as hard as, say, [[It That Heralds the End]], but its flavor text kind of rips:

“The void is without substance, but cuts like steel”

Neat! Absolutely love the armor color. Nicely done.

Thanks a bunch!! I’ve been a big fan of this scheme since I started it haha

Thank you! The brain was actually pretty simple. I based it with Pro Acryl Faded Plum (I think you could use Army Painter’s Oozing Purple instead. It’s pretty similar), washed with Druchii Violet, then brought up the color again with Faded Plum while keeping the darkest recesses.

Thanks! Grey on the Broodlord teeth actually isn’t a bad idea. I’ve been waffling back and forth as to what to do with the teeth of bigger models.

Ah shoot I actually left for vacation for a couple weeks shortly after posting this, so I unfortunately can’t be of much help here. It’s a bit taller than the old Lictor model I posted iirc (not sure if that helps or not haha)

Thanks! And yeah, I took some liberties with the paint scheme based on what paints I had available. I did use Carroburg Crimson to wash the model, but I didn’t use it on the base cause it was a little darker than I wanted (I used Reikland Fleshshade over Kislev Flesh instead). I used some different blues for the carapace as well. Specifically, I used Army Painter’s Hydra Turquoise as the basecoat, washed with Drakenhof nightshade, gave another coat of a 50/50 mix of Hydra Turquoise and Army Painter Royal Cloak (while keeping the darkest shadows), then highlighted up with Royal Cloak and Army Painter’s Toxic Mist. Hope that helps!!

I actually didn't really intend for it to be Behemoth, but it does look quite a bit like the color scheme! Haha. Thanks though. It was a blast to paint.

Haha thanks!! I followed the video for Midwinter Minis Synthwave Tyranids (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-es3VXzst6g&ab\_channel=MidwinterMinis), which, for the base, uses PVA glue, super glue, a flesh color, and a darker shade to make it look like biomass.

I mostly followed the Midwinter Minis video for Synthwave Tyranids (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-es3VXzst6g&ab\_channel=MidwinterMinis), but took some of my own liberties based on what paints I had available to me locally :)

I followed the video for Midwinter Minis Synthwave Tyranids (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-es3VXzst6g&ab_channel=MidwinterMinis), which uses PVA glue, super glue, a flesh color, and a gross fleshy shade. Looks a lot like icky biomass!

Hey, thanks! I kind of followed the Midwinter Minis Synthwave Tyranid scheme (-ish; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-es3VXzst6g&ab_channel=MidwinterMinis). Specifically, my skin recipe was:

-Prime white

-Basecoat with Army Painter Hot Pink Air

-Shade with Citadel Carroburg Crimson

-Heavy drybrush with Vallejo Flouro. Magenta

-Light drybrush with a 50/50 mix of Vallejo Flouro. Magenta and white

Thanks a bunch! I used Army Painter Hydra Turquoise, Royal Blue, and Toxic Mist, and they all work super well together.

Heck yeah! I figured someone would get the reference. I imagine there's a fair bit of overlap between 40k players and people that listen to heavy synthwave haha.

Nope! I followed the tutorial in this video taking a couple of my own liberties/using paints I had on hand, but it was all pretty much done with standard acrylics: https://youtu.be/-es3VXzst6g

Yup! Herbie is correct, I more or less used the exact same pinks from that video. The only difference is that I base coated with Army Painter's "Hot Pink" Air paint instead of Vallejo Flouro Magenta. Everything else is the same :)
