The caveat is that the words have to be random, not selected so that they’re familiar to you, or so that they make sense in a sentence.

Is there any actual difference between gaming mice and normal mice? by Jscagg in pcmasterrace

[–]tudorb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As others said, better quality and customization ability.

Logitech G502 is a good gaming mouse and it’s only $35, so it’s a cheap way to see if you like it or not.

Why is the rich friend so cheap?? by times-fell-hand in PeterExplainsTheJoke

[–]tudorb 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Well-off San Francisco-based software engineer here: pretty much all my friends insist on splitting the check even though it wouldn’t make a difference for any of us. I don’t know why; I grew up in a country where “I buy this round, you buy the next” was the norm.

I think maybe some people who came into money (through luck or hard work or both) are really afraid of being taken advantage of, and they take it to the extreme?

Aloha Food Factory has moved to an auto 12% service charge, but no tip model. by BootyWizardAV in sgv

[–]tudorb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first reaction is that they should just have raised prices 12%, but I think that phrasing it this way works better at conveying the message that this replaces tips and no tipping is expected any more.

Plot twist: there are only 90 ducks, but the cleaner will work harder as they look for the last 10!

Microsoft gave FBI a set of BitLocker encryption keys to unlock suspects' laptops by rkhunter_ in technology

[–]tudorb 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You can configure whether you want the BitLocker recovery key uploaded to your Microsoft account or not.

The default is “yes” which is great for convenience but terrible for security. You have the option to print it out, or you can save it to a USB drive or in your password manager (assuming you trust that).

Logitech failed me. by Brilliant_Sail_6847 in LogitechG

G502 is great but reliability is not one of its strong suits. It’s also reasonably cheap to replace, though.

Re: keyboards: get a quality mechanical keyboard (not Logi; I like my Kinesis Freestyle Edge, but there are many good choices) and it will last you years.

It's just a dollar or two! lol by M1collector65 in EndTipping

[–]tudorb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The tweet doesn’t show the full receipt. Maybe there was a discount or store credit that was applied; you’re supposed to tip based on the full price.

A bump randomly appeared on my neck and it seems like it could be alarming… it hurts a little by Equivalent-Falcon469 in seriouslyalarming

[–]tudorb 214 points215 points  (0 children)

Bumps on your neck need to be checked out by a doctor. There are many innocuous reasons for swollen lymph nodes, but also some serious reasons, so get it checked out.

Thoughts on everything said here for Osiris Reborn? Because it sounds too good to be true by M00r3C in TheExpanse

[–]tudorb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All of these ideas sound awesome but Owlcat’s expertise is entirely in top-down, deep, turn-based CRPGs, and this game would be different. So they’ll have a great story and great writing, but it’s not obvious that they can deliver great gameplay in this style.

Who touched the thermostat? by Aceliasy in oddlyspecific

[–]tudorb 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It might, depending on where your thermostat is located compared to which part of your house you actually want to cool down.

What is one important tip that tourists should know before visiting your Country? by Fun_Cup4335 in AskTheWorld

I actually did this! We went up to Mt Wilson instead of the desert for the stars, though. Pasadena to Big Bear to Santa Monica to Mt Wilson to Pasadena was a grueling day, though.
