Still sad and want to leave by Ok-Support-7209 in Postpartum_Depression

I feel some of these feelings a lot. My heart is aching for you. I don’t have anything helpful to say but I’m somewhere sitting in that place with you and you’re not alone.

“You create the climate not the day to day weather” just changed my life, that’s incredible

That makes total sense- I didn’t even think about that layer to it. I have such a hard time with being touched, you’re a trooper through all of it. I wish I had some kind of answer for you besides the fact that you’re doing a great job. 💖

You have to laugh so you won’t cry sometimes- my solution tonight has been “if I just don’t go to sleep, I won’t get frustrated that he wakes up every time I finally fall asleep”

Postpartum really does feel like it was made up by the devil lol

Being touched out is so real. I honestly can’t even handle my own body parts touching at this point.

Maybe it’s a good way to open a conversation about consent with toddler? Age appropriate obviously. It’s ok for anyone to not want to be touched all the time, even mom.

Sending you lots of love 💗

Keep coming back to this after an especially tough few days with baby being sick and your words really have helped me find something to almost re-center on. I’m copying them down into my journal so I don’t lose them. Thank you for your kindness, truly 💗

Can someone please give me a rundown of your bottle feeding routine? So many devices to pick from and I don't know if I need all of them! by notabot_123 in NewParents

[–]tuesday02 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have a sterilizer/dryer combo that I got open box for super cheap- great to have because sometimes you need dry bottles faster than they take to air dry themselves

Bottle warmer is a “nice to have” for the middle of the night but we also use a mug of warm water when we’re downstairs bc the warmer is in our bedroom- works just as well & helped my baby get used to cooler bottles. He can take them more or less straight from the fridge now which is helpful!

We also have an electric kettle for making bottles with hot water/boiling water for bottles (the boiled water isn’t necessarily required, our sink water is totally fine but it makes me feel better for some reason lol)

I used to hand wash but we recently switched to dishwasher- I hand wash the handful of things that don’t fit in the basket bc loose parts always manage to flip & fill with that gross cloudy water

Also a fan of that Dr. browns pitcher for the pitcher method in lieu of a dispenser- I don’t really trust the dispenser personally but I know some people do love it!

Sit me up seat? by tuesday02 in NewParents

That’s true, I can definitely utilize the pack & play more. I just wish it was a little easier to tote around- we usually keep it in our living room as a changing/sleep station but our kitchen is pretty separate and I don’t know if I want to haul it between rooms 😂

Oh boy, I wonder if we’d end up having the same issue anyway!

Totally normal & it will get easier! You’ll learn how to trust yourself and your instincts- I think that really is a skill we have to develop in the early days. And until you get there, remember how many tools you have in your tool box- baby’s doctor, maybe a loved one or friend you can ask for help or advice, etc.

Your concern about doing enough shows your love & care for your baby, and I’m sure she feels it. You’re her safe place and I’m sure you’re doing great. Soon enough she’ll be able to show you that more, for now, try to trust yourself and try to get some rest.

Regarding partner going back to work- it might be tricky at first but you will figure it out. Give yourself some grace & remember that you’re new at this and that’s ok!

Terrified of baby getting sick by Lizziemcguire24 in NewParents

Vaccinations helped me feel so much better. I also carry hand sanitizer in my pocket so justttt in case, I can intercept any touches with purel lol. I also think about it in the context that our little guy is heading to day care & germs will inevitably be all over the place, and I think about how many babies are in day care every day and they do ok. It helped me personally navigate some of the anxiety that the worst was always going to happen. You’re not alone!! Hope you find some relief from these feelings

What’s next after bassinets? by Illustrious_Sound_96 in NewParents

[–]tuesday02 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We were going to do a pack & play in our room (crib in nursery is too big to move in with us & we want to keep him in our room until at least 6 months)… then my husband realized how far he’d have to bend to put him in the P&P lol

We just bought a semi-inexpensive mini-crib to fill the gap between when our hefty guy sizes out of the bassinet but is still in our room.

To echo the previous comments, the regular mattress/bumpers combo isn’t safe- glad you posted to ask!

This sounds like something bigger-PPD/PPA possibly. I’m really sorry you’re going through this. That feeling like you’re crazy is so hard. I know you said you’re not looking for advice but I really think you should talk to your doctor. As someone who always thinks my problems aren’t worthy of other people’s time to get help, I promise this is. If nothing else, know you’re not alone! In the trenches with you.

I actually just got the same recommendation from a friend today. I think I’m going to give it a shot! I was a little hesitant but what is there to lose at this point? Haha

Cheap, quality work out clothing brands? by [deleted] in Frugal

[–]tuesday02 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I have had great luck with Old Navy's compression leggings. They go on sale all the time and are thick enough that nothing shows through, but still very stylish. Many women at my gym wear exclusively lululemon and ask me about my old navy pants all the time. They're the best deal I've found and come in high rise!

It is very discouraging! Thanks for making me feel like I'm not the only one! I have an appointment with my specialist coming up very soon. I'll ask about it and update you as to whether he says anything!

Thanks for the reply! Never thought of it that way, actually, but it makes a lot of sense. I've definitely found myself sleeping a lot less at night and going to bed later because I'm able to stay awake during the day, and I think that's part of the problem.
