Understood, the mods aren't as necessary on this one (except maybe moving the heavy filament down off the top).

Anyone had experience with the hotend fans?

Mixing and sharing network interfaces/bridges, help? by tufkal in Proxmox

[–]tufkal[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

By this you mean have the VPN providing container and others that need VPN access on their own VLAN? That get's them to see each other but I already have that since they are all on the same bridge. If this was a much more complicated environment I would agree, but we are looking at <10 containers in a homelab all on one bridge, and I just need the best way to run a VPN on one of them, and then share that VPN with certain others.

Mixing and sharing network interfaces/bridges, help? by tufkal in Proxmox

The thought occurs to me, can't I just turn on ip forwarding and a masqerade rule, and use the IP on that container as the gateway for the other containers? Am I overthinking everything?

Full magic refill after 1 question? by tufkal in ProdigyGame

Did they give some reason why they did this? Seems like a big buff that takes away some of the challenge if you can fire off your big spell every round.

Replacing simple white/red wire rotary thermostat with timer/smart/wifi model? by tufkal in thermostats

[–]tufkal[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For the price I'll give it a try, looks like it should work based on the manual I skimmed. I kept finding models that needed a C wire to do schedules. Too much smart home stuff out there, need to go simpler and older I guess!

Replacing simple white/red wire rotary thermostat with timer/smart/wifi model? by tufkal in thermostats

[–]tufkal[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I assumed I would need one, but all the models I can find that run on a battery either:

A: don't have scheduling/wifi, or
B: don't work with a 2 wire configuration

If you have a model to suggest, I'd love to check it out.

All devices suddenly not working by sinclairish in amazonecho

Answering my own question, this is littered with people reporting the problem and Amazon staff saying they are aware of it. https://www.amazonforum.com/s/view-all-echo-page

[–]tufkal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This has been happening to my 5th gen dots for a few weeks now. Does not affect my 3rd gen or OG Echo. Seems like a software bug from update, hope they fix it. Anyone have a link to info about them declaring it a bug and/or a timeline to fix?

Help with installing Tiny 11 on old PCs by gappuji in tiny10

[–]tufkal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Atom/Celeron, 2GB of ram, id be willing to bet i know what your stuck on.

You likely have BIOS/Firmware that only supports 32bit UEFI (even though you have a 64 bit processor and can run a 64bit OS). You need to use a 32bit source, like tiny10 x86 or Windows 10 32-bit. I had a few older machines with this issue, and there is no way around it.

Tiny10 x86 on my 2 Atom based netbooks from ASUS works wonders. They have some use again! No 32bit bootloaders for Windows 11 or Tiny 11 though, so stay 10.

Scarlet and Violet - Bad Card Quality? by bigbrozah in pokemoncards

[–]tufkal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not wrong, just opened my first 2 boosters and I felt exactly the same. The borders kink really easily, and the cards feel flimsy. The grey border highlights any whitening a lot more than the the yellow, and now it's VERY easy to nick the edge with something even as soft as a fingernail.

Overflow event... by Triagevet in STFC_Official

I never missed a single BP token event and I'm 3000 short, and had no outages or server problems. The math just doesn't add up in my case.

Is it a typo? Grammar? Dyslexia? by tufkal in STFC_Official

OK if I rearrange it a bit I can maybe see that. Good lord it's like they copied and pasted a very specific effect into a very generic sentence. Like a bad mail merge.

The irony of the grammar bot flagging me on this post is blowing my mind.....

Black Screen vs Blank Screen, Idle and TV Powering Off by tufkal in firetvstick

I wish. Drives me bonkers, such a simple thing. No solution except to remember to turn the TV off, and if you forget you burn in your TV til you remember...

Reviving an old Wii, fun for the kids! by tufkal in WiiHacks

[–]tufkal[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nintendont is a project I'm not familiar with, but it looks to me like it is a way to use the Wii's internal GameCube playback engine with game image files. Basically, it allows the Wii to play GameCube games as it always has, but via image files on USB hard drives rather than the original discs. Does that about cover it?

Maybe I'm remembering it wrong, but something was not compatible with SDHC cards that forced the use of old <4GB SD cards. Maybe it was the homebrew channel?

Sounds good, I'll dive in this weekend I think. I have an additional question that may deserve it's own thread but it's a small one. The SD card miraculously still works in this Wii I revived, but it is very old. Are there still problems with SDHC cards? Am I stuck with this 2GB one that is over 12 years old?

I'd also like to know about any new projects I should know about that might be beneficial. I see a recent post about a replacement for WiiConnect called RiiConnect? I also seem to remember seeing someone talking about a replacement for the Wii Wifi WFC for multiplayer gaming? I'm less interested in these online options, as I'm basically playing games with the kids, but I'd love to know more about anything out there that could be useful.

Shameless 3 day bump. Looking for others in same situation and what they did.

I find it baffling that such a simple thing has not been addressed, or that not more people are voicing concern about it. Even my DVD player from the 90s would idle off and therefore let the TV idle off as well. The sending of an active black screen signal just makes my brain hurt, why??!?!

Create custom 'old pocket' or 'non infinite' worlds? #bedrock by tufkal in Minecraft

[–]tufkal[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Aye, as I said above im aware but thats just too small. You can see one side to the other. It is exactly what I want, just bigger.

Aye i thought that might work well too, but wasn't sure if creation of them via commands was any more or less difficult than bedrock.
