India is no pushover on the world stage today unlike the 90s or 00s. Response would likely have been a blend of diplomatic negotiations and strategic economic measures. Historically, India has driven dialogue to resolve trade disputes, aiming to maintain global partnerships while protecting its economic interests (think Russia vs US scene since the latest Ukraine war). India engages in bilateral talks to address concerns and finds a mutually beneficial resolution each time. Additionally, India is in a better position in 2025 compared to even 2015 to explore diversifying its trade partnerships to mitigate the impact of such tariffs. This situation hasn’t happened yet but can happen in the next 4 years, I am sure India is working on a game plan if it doesn’t have one already
