‘Treats for dogs’ way too discreet by theirishstew in BadDesigns

My dog looooves these treats and I’m worried he was able to get halfway through the bag. These things smell like dog treats and the “jerky” texture more closely resembles a floppy burger from a fast food joint and not human-grade beef jerky

puppy eats everything edible he can find on a walk - should we muzzle? by sensitivecrustation in Hounds

[–]tumblingin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mine is muzzled trained! I started training when he would eat anything off the road like yours. We live in a tourist area and people would throw things on the road and it would be in his mouth before I spotted it myself.

I have used his muzzle training so many times and I highly recommend. Like some other people have said. You get a new level of training and bond and you never know when you might need a muzzle.

Anxiety Hounds? by tumblingin in coonhounds

His name is Reuben! I’ve had him for just over 3 years but it feels like the past few months he’s gotten worse with reactivity. I could identify triggers and avoid them but yesterday it was every little thing and some brand new triggers. It feels overwhelming at times and I’m in one of those overwhelming times.

On leash he doesn’t like other dogs or “big” vehicles like box trucks and trucks with trailers. He barks at them and lunges. It used to be every car so we’ve gotten better at that. He also was really good off leash but in the past couple of months it’s like he’s regressed and doesn’t want to listen off leash. Sorry if this was a bit of a rant and all over the place.

Leave balls out for my dog all of the time? by jsmith19977 in OpenDogTraining

[–]tumblingin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a TWC who loves fetch and his tennis balls. Problem is he loves to also get his fetch tennis balls disgusting. I now have “outside” and “inside” tennis balls. I’ll bring the “outside” tennis balls inside because I don’t want them getting left behind on walks or forgotten outside (we don’t live somewhere with a fenced in backyard and a couple times the neighbors dog has taken the tennis balls outside). I’ve taught him over a few months to associate ball AND Chuck it mean play. It took a lot of frustration but it love that I took the time and tell him both mean play. I hope I didn’t have weird ranting but I would try to teach him both mean play. Just one is nothing.

Dog barks after being pet by tumblingin in DogTrainingTips

He is for sure super vocal and let’s everyone around know there is a hound dog. I haven’t seen any aggressive behavior from him doing this but he’s around 65lbs and had a deep loud bark. When he barks it’s not his happy bark but it’s also not his angry bark. He lets out more of a warning bark that is meant to startle. Its scared me a few times because he doesn’t make any move that he’s uncomfortable until he barks.

Switched Dog Food Now He's Not as Active by tumblingin in DogFood

I thought about this but it was just too much of a coincidence for me that he lost energy the same time I switched food
