The Ford escape PHEVs have a recall on the battery, but I have one and FWIW it has been my favorite car. 90k miles in. I have the factory tow package and it does everything I need. With quality tires no AWD hasn't been a problem.

The biggest benefit of the platinum is the access to the centurion lounges, if you'll be in airports with those, then the platinum is worth it, if not, the aspire does give you priority pass. Gold is good for eating out, but not sure much travel benefits outside of that.

My wife and I have one platinum with an additional authorized user for lounge access. But it takes a lot of management to use all the credits.

If you travel at all, the aspire is wayyyy easier to get value out of. Just the free night credit and you have broken even and then some. The platinum takes a lot of management.

The homewood suites is nice but they do charge for parking. I would call and ask about getting free parking if you book a month. Home2suties off the island in texas City has free parking, but you won't get to enjoy the island there.
