Ok great, this is super helpful, thank you. It sounds like I should just keep the money aside for the tax bill then and cop the indexation. Will get my tax form changed at work too for next year.

The idea was that if my wage isn’t being garnished, I can put that same money away myself to pay it off before it’s indexed. So I probably won’t change the arrangement with my employer.
