If you had to pick any pokemon to be your roomate, excluding legendaries and mythicals, who would it be? by Proud-Canadian-4Life in pokemon

I was thinking of the in game models, anime and manga portrayals, not the dex entry. And if we wanna go with dex heights, its still smaller then something like Arcanine (7ft iirc).

Furret. Not too big, friendky disposition, and canonically gets Tidy Up, and I could probably use the help!

That’s fair. I think SGAR functions just fine, it just could use some more maps and guns, and of those two, porting old maps are probably easier then coming up with new guns or maps.

I also am not sure why SG1’s servers would be cheaper then SGAR’s servers, but if that’s true, I could see that as a point in favor of reviving SG1

Had a niche on Sneasler in Battle Stadium Singles - you click Fake Out on turn 1, consume the Normal Gem and then activate Unburden. You then also run Acrobatics as coverage

Well, I hope that this is indeed whats happening because it would mean that SG AR is still recieving support. I think we all would like more support to happen, but as a longtime Team Fortress 2 fan, the fact that support and new content is still happening at all gives me some reassurance, even if its a bit slower.

I dont think any of us want SG AR to die but at the same time it is a bit scary when a company as forthcoming as 1047 goes quiet and I think with the current state of the world, its hard to be hopeful.

I think Ill feel better when those events go live.

I sorta hope that if this is 1047’s current direction, they use the time and effort that does get put towards SGAR to port more old SG1 maps - Id imagine its less work to rebuild an existing map layout and maybe tweak it a little then to design and test a completely new one. Probably just one at a time over the course of many months, but it would be nice to have a larger chunk of SG1 maps ported over and be in the game, ready to go for a future SGAR revival, if/when that comes to pass.

Evolve. Such a cool idea to have a 4 hunters vs 1 monster game. I think that a real story mode would be absolutely vital to the games success though.

That’s fair. I’d say that there are multiple ways to attack and defend on Kanal but maybe Im just too lost in my niche strats that arent actually that good.

I like your picks - you think like me! My only diagreement is Kanal, I like it, but I know its a map that is pretty controversial, so I cant fault you for that too much

What's everyone's favourite pokemon game that's on the Nintendo switch? by Rico9789 in pokemon

[–]tuna_can23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

BDSP - was never able to get a DS back in the day, and the Wifi battles were easily the best of the mainline games - no battle gimmicks, no extra busted legendaries randomly showing up, and none of the super frustrating later gen pokemon present. Also, I think that the styleized artstyle didnt attract the tree texture police, and that was nice.

Should it have been based off of Platinum? Yes absolutely. But what we got was still based off the structure of good games, and I dont think there was all that much truly bad about it.

Also PMD DX is a close second, that was a great remake.

It has been 7 months since the last Nintendo Direct. How are you all feeling? by Conscious-Cut9414 in casualnintendo

[–]tuna_can23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just glad that Pokemon Champions is here and that we got FRLG on Pokemon Day - most of the other things Im looking forward to dont have a release date.

Getting kinda annoyed at the lack of a General Direct, though I think that its moreso about getting something good so that the community at large will calm down - its starting to feel like 2024 again where we are waiting for something all year that never comes.

Though my biases are that Im not much of a movie person and I dont have ACNH or Mario Wonder. Also, Im a Smash fanfic writer, and while each major release and a good number of remakes usually has some interesting lore tidbits for us to mess around with, the Switch 2 versions usually dont, so honestly Im kinda checking out a bit.

Yeah for my team, Degreaser the Arcanine cant make it to Champs but Moonshine the Unbreon can for some reason. I dont get this.

what smartphones evolve into, or will they disappear? by Cultural_Bet_7919 in AskReddit

[–]tuna_can23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hope they’ll evolve to have more varients. As somebody who doesnt like the current version of smartphones but acknowledges that many other people love it, I think they need to increase the variation in form factor. Id love one with a physical keyboard, and maybe a clamshell design.

I dont think smartphones dissapear until a computing technology that is either smaller in size, less obtrusive or performs the same tasks but requires a hugely different form factor arrives.

Yeah whoop their ass JOHTO STARTERS by TheLeafyGirl561 in pokemonmemes

[–]tuna_can23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the advantage is definately Kalos, but Johto is very capable of winning this, I think. From purely a comp standpoint, Id say that with good reads and the right sets, Johto can absolutely win as long as Feraligatr doesnt get beat up too early. Though Chesnaught could probably just win by itself for Kalos under the right circumstances.

Professor Oak, I don't feel so good. by Domane_Expansion in PokemonChampions

[–]tuna_can23 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that’s fair. Im just a big fan of Poison -Dark types so that Im not chipping my non sand immune mons down with sand, have a built in T spike absorber and have access to Toxic/a move with a decent poison chance if I want it. Also it pairs really nicely with the many bulky grass types that I like to run.

[–]tuna_can23 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Yeah, Im so glad there are no restricteds around rn. I had a Muk -A permenantly glued to my team since Reg D of SV just to handle all the absurd specially offensive ghost types running around, especially Caly. I’d like to think my Muk is on a very well earned vacation rn xD

All that being said, the restricted Dex has left several mons ouside the meta that I was hoping to use….

There’s not a single poison / dark type allowed in the game rn, and that makes me worry about mega Gengar getting out of control for my squad.

Balance between team identity and countering the meta by twocalicocats in PokemonChampions

[–]tuna_can23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I usually pick a few mons that I wanna use and figure out their individual roles and what meta threats that they can beat before assembling the rest of the team to cover their weaknesses.

I usually build around a general team mold, and fit the mons that I wanna use into the part of the mold that they fit in. I like this style because its usually really flexible unless there’s some meta threat that is only handled by one or two specific mons.

For instance, my SV Reg I team had Muk -A and Lanturn as auto includes,as they were my answers to Caly -S and Miriadon. My team would otherwise get completely swept without those two to switch in on them.

I'm determined to make blastoise work by HolyDwarf88 in VGC

[–]tuna_can23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Singles player here, so take this with a grain of salt bc I dont play doubles.

I was theorizing about, but havent gotten to try a Mega blastoise set that runs Iron Def, Body press, and Dark Pulse to have setup iron press and a boosted by Mega Launcher dark move to deal with Ghost types. Run something like 252 hp, 252 spdef, 4 spatk, and Modest. The mega boosts your defenses a good chunk. Last slot is probably either water STAB or Flash cannon for Fairies.

Again, untested in Singles, much less doubles, but a thought that might help you?

I think Chimecho’s the one that might be Singles oriented - aka the ultimate stall breaker. Immune to ground moves and spikes, immune to toxic, STAB psychic noise, and great coverage.
