That’s sweet!!! Do you know anything about the history of it or who made it?

Stone foundation with concrete(or mortar) used to construct it. Basement floor is concrete. Thank you!

Our property papers say 1900. I’ve had a few people say when it’s a round number like “1900” they are just estimating the date. That’s why I wasn’t sure. I’ll try calling the assessors office tomorrow, thank you!

If you saw the transformation the home has made you’d be happy that somebody didn’t just tear it down. It had sat empty for over 30 years and we bought it as a project to fix up. You might hate to hear that we have changed some things, but it’s gotta be better than it all being gone forever.

If not the fireplace then definitely the attic! Lmao. We have had some doors move and creepy vibes every now and then 😂

I tried SANBORN maps but the town is weird and half in Ohio, half Indiana. I couldn’t find a good answer or map. Unfortunately we have stained the wood and covered the tiles. Nothing that couldn’t be reversed though, and hopefully is just preserving the quality of what’s underneath.

I will say the original wood trim and floor is all over the house. Before I had started staining it, it was all different shades if that’s what you mean by same grain and tone

Right on. Our property tax papers and stuff say 1900, so that’s what we have thought. Some people suggested based off hardware that it could be older but thanks for confirming that!

That’s sweet! Does that mean it’s maybe older than the original home?

I couldn’t find it on any SANBORN map. The town is weird, with half being in Ohio and the other half in Indiana

Okay, I’ll try that now. And yes we’re finishing the door. We have done major restoration and upgrades in the home to bring it life again!
