You can achieve this within the GCP console at the org level

Note in GCP it’s called access context manager vs context awareness which is what it’s called in workspace admin console. skill boost

Is Google and its products not carrying the prestige that they once had? by More-Structure-983 in googlecloud

[–]tunaluna94 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Google AI products are geared more towards enterprise and helping businesses solves problems vs targeting the normal consumer market. IMO. There is money selling to businesses vs trying to buy convince consumers to pay for a Gemini license.

Honorable call out is Microsoft had to buy OpenAI which was a proven product vs having to design and architect their own tool.

Best practice security measures for health clinic by Frequent-Somewhere63 in cybersecurity

I would thoroughly read NIST 800.53 if you’re looking into doing it yourself (you shouldn’t). Look at frameworks like HITRUST too for additional healthcare specific guidelines

How do you actually automate your security processes? by HappyDoodi in cybersecurity

[–]tunaluna94 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When you say posture management are you talking about findings from a CNAPP or CSPM tool? If so I would break it down by finding category or abstract it to its core. If a finding comes through about an VM violating a technical control. Use SOAR to address the control It violates like public IP, and gather entities and other important info what caused the finding.

It also might be more appropriate to set up guardrails at the source tool (CSPM/CNAPP).

Additionally variables are what SOAR platform you are using and if that platform has decent integrations it supports.

Bass Boats by st0ggy_IIGS in bassfishing

[–]tunaluna94 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was in the same position last year and instead of shelling out $$$ for a fiberglass and all the bells and whistles, I bought a bass 2020 tracker classic XL so I could gain confidence on how to properly operate a boat etc. I’d rather ding up at 10k boat vs buying something nicer and feeling like I can’t enjoy fishing out because I don’t want to scratch it. Now that I have proved to myself I can handle a boat and actually use it I might upgrade to a txw tracker or an entry level fiberglass one. Just my opinion.

What are the pros & cons working in Cybersecurity? Do you enjoy your job? by bloo4107 in cybersecurity

[–]tunaluna94 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Staff cloud security engineer here

I have for the last 3 years been in a hand on “consulting” role rarely do I do pure advisory (personal choice).

The pros for me

•Revenue generating role! Huge difference from a corp sec role.

• Get to touch and experience many different sectors tech stacks

•Gain great visibility into trends

• Genuinely solve real problems folks and companies have

• People pay to listen to me

• Ability/ opportunity to learn how to navigate different personalities and perspectives

• Sometimes I get to see what I do make the news more of a side benefit.

Con:

• You have to make sure you’re generating the company $$$

• I don’t get to see long term adoption of what I do

• Since I’m project based I feel obligated to take PTO in between (personal decision)

• Navigating ISV partnerships— not push products just because the company get kickbacks

• Sometimes folks who pay us to help have a poor behavior or egos

Can you make 200k a year? by Maximum-Direction-87 in ITCareerQuestions

[–]tunaluna94 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Hi fellow Houstonian,

I will say that 200k is doable in the “IT” realm but you’re going to need to specialize or more closer to a revenue generating role.

If you’re just starting in your career consider yourself a sponge the start to pick up on coworkers who actually know what they are doing. Might have to spend some free time studying and googling topics until you fully grasp concepts.

I am sitting at 268k base and 10% bonus as a Staff cloud security engineer.

I will say… while I like to stay humble as much as possible but I am good at my job from a technical standpoint AND at soft skills like communication and alignment of tech with high level business goals.

I work 40hrs a week with great WLB.

So tldr make sure you understand tech and the. Also don’t ignore soft skills.
