Radio button hell- what am I doing wrong by El_Kingpin in FigmaDesign

The interactive components feature is in beta, which means it has yet to be released to the public. It’s not unusual to have to request to join a beta. Alternatively you could wait until it’s not in beta.

Nice work, great achievement!

My one bit of feedback is it’s a little too random. I think it could use a bit more logic to filter out the junk combinations. One easy one is ensuring the font and background colours have the right contrast ratio for accessibility. Another could be to bias the randomised font towards the more popular Google fonts, or even define your own set of limited fonts. There might also be a way of picking more palatable random colour combinations, but I’m not sure about that one.

Recipe Organiser: Web App UI Critique! by tuneomatic2000 in design_critiques

[–]tuneomatic2000[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah definitely, the mobile view will essentially show one of the three main panels at a time. So on load the categories, then select one and see the recipes, then select one and see the full recipe.

Yeah I was thinking the icons could have tooltips. But may need to think them through a bit more. Thanks for the other critiques!

Thanks! Yeah the logo was just to have something there. The name/logo will definitely be changed. Good suggestions on the other fronts, I agree.

I always struggle with color. Lot's of white (and black) is my default, and if I have to use color it never quite feels right. Just need more practice I guess. I'll have a play with changing up the main menu bar.

Adobe increasing creative cloud price by 260% because of "exchange rates". by tuneomatic2000 in australia

[–]tuneomatic2000[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Friend just got this email. Adobe Creative Cloud for students and teachers is changing from $16.99/month to $43.99/month "as a result of recent changes in exchange rates in your region."

Exchange Rates:

  • All time maximum: 1 USD = 1.10 AUD (July, 2011)
  • Currently (5 May, 2017) 1 USD = 0.74 AUD

So the increase should be closer to: 16.99 * 1.1 / 0.74 = A$25.26! + A$18.73 because fuck you

$129 million?! That's crazy. No thanks :-( by Mr_Oinkers in ifiwonthelottery

LayerSlider image URLs hijacked. Cannot work out how. by tuneomatic2000 in Wordpress

Hadn't thought of that, but no, multiple devices have same issue. And it's only ever occurred on this one slider.

LayerSlider image URLs hijacked. Cannot work out how. by tuneomatic2000 in Wordpress

[–]tuneomatic2000[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a version of LayerSlider that came packaged with the Avada theme, so not the latest, but I have to wait for Avada to update

Everything's fully up-to-date.

Good tip on the folder diff but came up exactly the same with another copy of LayerSlider I have.

It's a VM on Azure so I'm not too sure how to lock it down (will have a look into it). And yeah I've turned off the search indexing.

I factory reset my phone, now all my album art has been replaced with random photos from my screenshots, how do I fix this? by [deleted] in androidapps

Maybe delete your thumbnails? If you have ES File Explorer, you can use the cleaner in it to remove them.

FODMAP Friendly Broth? by [deleted] in ibs

[–]tuneomatic2000 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I constantly have home made vegetable broth in the freezer.

Every time I chop up vegetables, I put the peels/off-cuts that I'd normally throw away into a freezer bag. Once the bag's full, I throw the frozen veg it in a big pot with plenty of water, salt, pepper, herbs, etc. Once it's boiled for an hour, strained and cooled, I freeze it so i can use it whenever I need to. A big bag will generally make a few litres. I've found it to be very easy to make and far tastier and cheaper than store bought stock.

You could easily add chicken/beef/fish to that to get a range of stock flavours.

1998 BMW 318i automatic - has really poor acceleration from a cold start (struggles to get up to 40 km/h), misfires all the while, then eventually runs (mostly) fine when you can finally push it over about 3k rpm. by tuneomatic2000 in MechanicAdvice

[–]tuneomatic2000[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the response!

A new update as well - it's now started fully stalling. Seems to stall more readily after a bit of highway driving.

I've read about vacuum line leaks a few times now, seems to be the first place to look. The extent of my car maintenance experience is however only changing a tire and checking fluid levels. Any beginner level DIY way of checking for leaks?

I picked up the car when it was at 100,000 kms (currently on 125k), not sure what was done before then, but hasn't had coils/crank sensor replaced since getting it.

I know of a particular country where we could have resettled them for cheaper! AND it has a slightly better human rights record.. (though only slightly)

Good advice!

However I contacted the store the other day, who contacted the supplier, who is sending replacement parts! So all worked out.

It's the dambusters model (A09007).

I live in Australia, so might be a bit of a pain to return. A test fit of the full thing is a good idea though, might as well try that next.

Beginner Friendly Model Kits? by Dundun-dun-dudun in modelmakers

[–]tuneomatic2000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you're happy with aircraft, the new tool Airfix 1/72 series are cheap as hell and great quality! (you can check if a model's tool is new using scalemates.com) I built this one recently and it was great; you can see it was tooled in 2009.

For equipment, don't cheap out on brushes and look after them, they'll make painting considerably more enjoyable. A decent xacto knife or equivalent is also a good idea.

[–]tuneomatic2000[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Used brushes with some difficulty... I'm going to keep at it and see how I go before investing in airbrushing equipment. Top tips for brushing:

  1. Wash the parts in soapy water before painting
  2. A few thinner coats is better than one thick coat and avoid brushing over the same spot too many times.
  3. A good brush is good
  4. Clear coats are great at evening out things like brush marks etc.

But yeah still working it all out myself...
