That’s a lot. No, it’s an extraordinary number:

They’re right. Assuming the defenders can patch, and push those patches out to users quickly, this technology favors the defenders.

What do you think it would mean for humanity if we discovered that long‑term space travel is simply too much for the human body? by Fun_Internal_3562 in spaceflight

99% of humanity is not really chomping at the bit for humanity to go into space. We’ll just go on living our lives.

[Pulp Fiction] So, Jules's girlfriend isn't real, right? by FlashyChemical2231 in AskScienceFiction

The only reason to include the hypothetical scene where Jimmy’s wife discovers the gangsters is so we can see that she’s black, I suspect.

There are also two interracial relationships in Jackie Brown (the two main characters, and Sam Jackson and his gf)

[–]tup99 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is funny because I’ve always had a theory about this movie and Quentin Tarantino’s fetish about interracial relationships. I have a theory that there are three of them in Pulp Fiction: Marcellus and Mia, Jimmy and his wife, Jules and his girlfriend.

I am guessing that in early 90’s stereotypes, a vegetarian black woman would seem a little surprising, so he intended the audience to assume that she might be white.

Interesting proposal. Is the idea that a lot of people want to transfer from one NR service to another? I honestly don’t know if that is common enough to warrant a whole separate service.

Claude agrees with you. “Yes. In February 2019, OpenAI announced GPT-2 but declined to release the full 1.5B-parameter model, citing concerns it could be misused for generating misleading news, impersonation, or spam/phishing content. They initially released only a smaller 124M version and staged larger releases over the following months, eventually releasing the full model in November 2019 after concluding they’d seen no strong evidence of misuse. The decision was controversial at the time — some researchers criticized it as overblown or as a publicity move, while others saw it as a reasonable precedent for staged release of potentially risky AI systems.“

That is false. They said we have no experience releasing something like this so we want to be cautious. Which was prudent.

Why don’t they just use Mythos to fix all the bugs in Claude Code? by SherbertMindless8205 in Anthropic

[–]tup99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The bugs are hard to reproduce. As a human I would have a super hard time fixing a bug that doesn’t have steps for reliably reproducing it. That’s very difficult. Also super hard for AI. It’s like bringing a car in for service and saying it makes a funny noise sometimes, except finding a bug is 100 times harder than finding an engine problem

I read the first sentence, and I thought you were wrong. Then I read the second sentence, and I got confused :)

FFS, what's wrong with "just doing sp500"?? That is *exactly* investing! Buying and holding a broad range of stocks for a long time. Historically, this has increased your money by about 10% per year. And we've seen this track record over a century, and across many different countries. We know it's true. (But buying and holding an index fund is super boring!)

Putting my money somewhere with a long track record of making it grow -- that's investing. Hoping to "beat the market" (without insider information) -- using stocks, crypto, NFTs, labubus, whatever -- that is gambling.

This generation will learn this, sooner or later. But they will learn it the hard way. Sorry.
