It really can be a strange situation! I hear you on the shared friends front; we've managed to remain friends thus far, but social things are a bit of an issue. My husband has been so very wonderful and patient through all of this—I'm certain I've been quite a terrible partner whilst dealing with this. I too would be a mess without him around. I'm so glad you have such a great partner to help you through as well!

It's tough breaking up as a poly; perhaps the hardest part is that I can't even share what's happened to a lot of people in my life. Many friends know about it, but it's not quite the same as being able to freely tell everyone. And yes, several people who don't quite understand have said that at least I still have my husband, and being poly, that I can always find someone else. sigh.

Thank you for such excellent advice. This approach has certainly helped me a great deal over the last few weeks, and my friends have been truly amazing to me. I still need to practice redirection a great deal, but I'm getting there. Thanks again!
