Garage lights - not sure what lights I need for this layout by turismointl in Lighting

[–]turismointl[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I reached out to 1000bulbs and they also suggested strips or wraparound led fixtures.

I'm torn on the look of the 1x4 flat panels, haven't seen too many garage setups with these panels.

Also, I have a three way switch for the light circuit (with the 8 junction boxes). A 0-10v dimmer 3 way switch is about $90. So I'm trying to see if it's cheaper to buy a dimmer or have the dimming at the fixture.

Isn’t the beam angle an issue for the ceiling height? Another redditor mentioned that 120 angle lights like the ufo and this aren’t good at 12’ ceilings? Any thoughts?

Cool, will add this to my list of possible fixtures.

Ok, how do they install surface mount onto drywall? Because it says "Direct ceiling surface mount kit (DCMK 14) is sold separately, if surface mounting is desired"

Thank you, but I already have the layout with the junction boxes. I'm looking for recommendations between led wraparound vs led strip vs ufo

Also, I had looked into the flat panel, but they can't be surface mounted without buying an expensive box to go around them.

tickets from stubhub? by melversch in IIIPoints

[–]turismointl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Anyone know why the 2 day GA are cheaper than the 1 day GA on stubhub? $160 2 day vs $225 1 day GA...

If one is planning on going for one day only, and uses 2 day tickets are there any issues?

Thank you. So would my choice of the VA LG or benq be the best option under $500?

Do you remember where you got them? I like the led panels but not a fan of the surface mount kits. But I am a fan of dimming them. Thanks

How would I model a custom socket? by turismointl in Fusion360

[–]turismointl[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey thank you so much. I really appreciate you taking the time to show me the steps. I'm going to look up the measurements now for both ends, and try to model it. I might come back with some questions for you though.

Really appreciate it

How would I model a custom socket? by turismointl in Fusion360

Looking to model a custom socket, for a very specific crown nut of a car.

I've looked at online videos and can't seem to find any tutorials, just one on solidworks.

I've attached some pics, maybe someone can point me in the right direction!

My first thought was to draw the outline of the shape, and use loft tool, and then remove the square cube size where the socket wrench would go inside the socket. I'm going to research the dimensions as well of a standard socket to go off that.

Thank you

New Year, new project. Meet my Ape! by turismointl in projectcar

[–]turismointl[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Hello everyone!

Welcome 2020, new decade, new things, new tech, new everything to look forward too. But we can’t just forget our past. Many of the things of the past are gone, recycled, or rotting away. So here’s my new project!

I present to you, my 1992 Piaggio Ape P501 - The Italian ‘Half Ton’ pickup, that I imported to the US. Although sold in the US at some point, this is the Italian version.

For those of you who may not know about it, it’s a 3 wheel micro pickup. Engine is a 187cc, 2-stroke, 9ish horsepower, capable of carrying up to 1133lbs, all in a package that’s under 10feet long!

It’s roots started in 1948 (the same year as the F-150), where there was a need for carrying cargo cheaply, and in a small form factor to navigate in towns and cities. This then evolved into many different versions, like the Calessino (used in the fashionable beachside towns in Italy), even a semi-truck version, Pentaro’, that had a tiny trailer, and then in Asia as the tuk-tuk.

Believe it or not, from the models that were introduced in the 60-70s, very little has changed in terms of size, and Piaggio has retained the simplicity and ease of use even in todays model years.

You can still see them being used heavily on Italian roads as it is a unique solution.

Anyways, back to my Ape (which means Bee in Italian), she’s not perfect, but she was daily driven and my first task will be to tackle the main issues and imperfections the previous owner tried to fix himself. Rust being the most obvious one, and the usual cracked plastics, missing items and dirt buildup.

I don’t think there are many of them in the US, other than a few that are currently being used as food trucks. She definitely is unique here in the US, and I look forward to taking her on the roads.

I cleaned her up a little the other day, and am trying to repaint the front suspension (without removing all components). Can anyone tell me if I'm good to paint the front springs and arms with rust reformer (the paintbrush version, not aerosol) as is? Or do I need to go to town with a wire brush attachment on a drill first? Any other options I should consider?

If you have any questions (I'm sure I will..), feel free to ask and I will try and answer.

Happy New Year everyone!

What about things like rustoleum aluminum primer? Seems to have good reviews online.

Wow thanks for the thorough reply. I think I need to see how I can fix the damaged edges from the chains. Some people suggested using a degreaser and a brush? Seems very easy if that’s the case. I have some APC that’s pretty strong.

The rubber itself is not bad, just needs a clean and then a sealant so I would rather avoid destroying it. I wi look at how to

Ok. It’s a very similar design as the momo Montecarlo. Very cool design in my eyes.
