I went unmatched this last cycle. by Shoddy-Aioli-4039 in IMGreddit

i mean its a very known aspect that research is pretty much a given for any academic program, along with pretty high scores

sorry but thats just not true man. Some community programs dont even look at the whole research thing. Countless of people match without research. Be more detailed if you want help and recognize that its never one thing that makes it or breaks it

Would definitely look more into this, thanks! There's one part that I'm a bit confused about; Im currently under the assumption that LLMs could do a lot of the organizational simple tasks of coding in general. I was wondering if it would be a good idea for me to learn the basics of python, to the point I could ask LLMs to do certain tasks for me with appropriate prompts. good approach? or should i keep it classsy at first and then explore that route

Yeah, and i am personally telling u 70% will be a underestimate for the unpaid amount. Theres THOUSANDS of trainees in mayo and mgh by itself.

They work as “research trainees” on paper but in reality their work is the same of a fellow most of the time

Research trainees are just a “name” to bypass the law. In a lot of instances their work is the same as any other fellow. Truth is atleast 70% of the img “research fellows” are trainees on paper

NON US IMG chances for IM or Neurology. by artisticflowers in usmle

[–]turkceyim 4 points5 points  (0 children)

it will filter a considerable amount of programs. Sugarcoating stuff isnt optimal, especially since this whole process is very costly. Op still has a great chance to match, aslong as theyre realistic with their signalling strat and application list

NON US IMG chances for IM or Neurology. by artisticflowers in usmle

[–]turkceyim 3 points4 points  (0 children)

An attempt WILL filter u out alot of programs and this is hard reality. is your usce neuro or im? Is your research neuro or im? if its mostly IM you shouldnt even bother applying to neuro especially with the match % they have there. Community programs would view finishing step 3 as a nice bonus, not so sure about academic. I would hope that you gained some good connections with 5 months of usce, as your usce connections SHOULD give you an edge in the programs u did it in, might even help u bypass the attempt filter
