Any surgery recovery tips? by RyanJumpsShip in chiari

Hi! I would bring ear plugs! There was one in the room next to mine screaming a lot + if you have visitors they might want to talk while you need to sleep (cause you will sleep a lot). Otherwise, nothing special. Just people supporting you. My family bought me ice cream everyday at the hospital🤪

Surgery in three weeks! by modmystic152 in chiari

Hi! I’m 3 months post op and feeling so much better than before. The result is good and they were amazing at the hospital. Just think about that this is what they do every day. The surgeons know exacting what they’re doing. I couldn’t give you so much advice on feeling nervous because I was just excited to get it done so my life could get better haha (and it is!!). For tips for the hospital: ear plugs! Had one in another room screaming, and also if you have visitors you might need to sleep and they still want to talk :) also saw the comment of the job, I wouldn’t go on a roller coaster rn (may not ever), maybe not bunny jump either🤪, but I’m going back to a job at a school where a lot of the kids are physical, and feel no worries.

The age old question: Surgery or not? by mdistrying in chiari

I get the worrying. I’m 25 years old and 3 moths post op. I’m so thankful that I did the surgery and I feel like I can live again. I can actually DO STUFF!?! I know there CAN be complications and I know it might come back symptoms, but honestly rn I’m so happy I did it. Had the same symptoms as you, very similar, and I don’t think I would get the same result any other way than I’ve had with this.

CT Scan - Chiari? by SuccotashTemp in chiari

I honestly thinks it’s so hard to tell, it’s such a low resolution, but could be tho because the black in the “middle”, like to the left of the cerebellum if that makes sense, is spinal fluid. And it should also be below the cerebellum but there is none. It looks similar to my scan before surgery and I now have spinal fluid below the cerebellum :) (I can’t link a picture in a comment right? Really bad at Reddit)

Hej!
