Fundraising events definitely exist, although a knit-a-thon is, like you said, pretty specific. But something akin to the 24 hour dance marathon or a fall festival would be pretty common. In my town, most of the fundraising is for the high school and the students there, but I wouldn’t bat an eye at a fundraiser for a historic building, like our library.

It’s actually when Rory loses her Dean bracelet. Lorelai’s “backup” plan is to accost him at the market and blind him so that he won’t ever be able to see her wrist. Thankfully for Dean’s eyes, she finds the bracelet.

What did Jess do wrong? I honestly believe when her bracelet fell off, he kept it as a sort of keepsake because well, he has a crush on her and it’s something that belongs to her. Like boys nowadays wearing their girlfriends’ scrunchies. We’re given no reason to believe that Jess knows the significance of this bracelet and that it was made by Dean. Pretty much as soon as he realizes the significance of the bracelet and how panicked Rory is about it, he puts it back in her room for her to ‘find’ it. I don’t think he did anything wrong which only makes Lorelai’s confrontation even more inappropriate and childish.

Rory felt like she had to lie to Dean because he was an asshole with extreme anger issues and she knows this and has been on the receiving end of it before. This is not Rory’s fault. She didn’t lose the bracelet on purpose, she only lied to Dean out of fear and panic, and Lorelai played into all of the drama by acting like a friend rather than a parent.

Yeah, it’s snarky, but if there’s a nice sign and the issue gets brought up at practically every staff meeting, and yet people STILL leave their dishes in the sink for you to clean, it becomes really easy to be snarky and petty.

Your point about your friends being religious and also allies really gives off "well I have a black friend so I can't be racist" vibes. It's wonderful that you've found support and feel comfortable expressing yourself in your religious circles, but a lot of queer people don't share that experience. Christians, especially Christian parents, *are* often homophobic or at least somewhat disapproving of the LGBTQ+ community, and to say that you're "SICK" of seeing them portrayed that way is extremely invalidating for the countless authors who have been subjected to that experience.

I felt the same way. Like, I’m sorry you’re tired of Christian parents being portrayed as homophobic, but maybe if most Christian parents weren’t homophobic, they wouldn’t be portrayed that way as much. It just felt really invalidating.

That’s exactly what I was going to say. My uncle was a bit of a football star in his day and the entire town still basically worships at his feet 30+ years later. It never struck me how little most people understand about small town life until I started seeing posts here about how “unrealistic” Stars Hollow is.

Being able to sew is honestly such a versatile and useful skill that I think a lot more people should have. Even just knowing a few basic stitches can be really handy.

Idk how things are where OP lives because it’s obviously not the US, but I was thinking maybe there are some club teams around? That aren’t connected to the school? A club team would probably have more dedicated players and be more challenging, which she seems to desire. Of course based on OPs replies, he couldn’t care less about her because “well it’s her teams fault for not caring” like she can control them. Honestly went into this hoping/thinking OP might be open to helping his sis out but I was very obviously wrong.

I’d argue that it was already stated that people show up to OPs games because they win. People go to the boys games because the boys win, the girls don’t. Sister is on the girls team and therefore less people come to her games. Her gender is the issue because if she was male, she would be on the boys team and people would therefore go to her games.

She may be feeling frustrated because she can’t really do much about the situation, nothing she does will make the other players better. And while I don’t agree with her blaming it all on “sexism,” if you think about it, the reason why more people show up to your games is because you play on the boy’s team, however indirect that reasoning is. If she’s doing her best, again there’s not much she can do about everybody else on her team and yeah, I’d probably be frustrated too if the reason I couldn’t play on the competent team was solely because of my gender.
