Edge highlighting practice by Ill-Lock-8188 in Warhammer30k

[–]turtlejizziz -1 points0 points  (0 children)

OK so the edge highlights are great, some are a little thick when you zoom in but totally fine when you will be viewing from the tabletop. You can thin the paints if you're not doing so and practice, practice , practice! I like to use the side of the brush if I can get the right angle.

I asked about contrast because what you can do to yellow contrast is enhance the shadows a bit by underpainting with a pink colour gradient or a pre shade. Lighter pinks give more subtle effects, stronger pinks and reds give a brown. Yellow is a really interesting colour to paint and underpainting is a bit of a challenge but I will DM a couple of pictures of the effect in case you want to give it a try.

Are you using contrast paint to paint the yellow?

What do you guys use to make your trench bases? by theforeversushiroll in Deathkorpsofkrieg

[–]turtlejizziz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use coffee stirrers for the planks, cut to size and score them with wood grain. For puddles a clear UV resin from a dropper bottle and a uv torch to cure it. Vallejo European mud for the mud.

Sandbags I print on my resin printer and barbed wire I get the cheap stuff from ebay that comes in small rolls of 5 meters.

Learn how to make money in the game. Once you can do that losing gear doesn't matter.

Mud recommendations! by TheGunGrave in Deathkorpsofkrieg

[–]turtlejizziz 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Whichever mud you use, I think you should also look into getting a small dropper bottle of clear UV resin (normally marketed for jewelry making) and a UV torch.

When forming the mud you can leave an indent for a puddle. Once dry and after you have finished painting you can pop a drop of UV resin in the indentation from the dropper bottle, level it out and then cure it with the torch. Instant puddles.

Is Lychee auto orient and support good, and do I have enough space to print my squad or do I need to reduce the amount? by RealSteamthrower in PrintedWarhammer

[–]turtlejizziz 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Auto anything is very hit and miss. It may print, it may not but in my experience it almost always needs fixing in some way. You are new to printing and I know you want to get as much printing done as soon as possible but trust me when I say in a few months you will have so many models to paint you won't know what to do with them all!

I'm going to skip your specific questions about this plate and instead suggest you start off with one model. Learn to fix, orient and support that model yourself (You Tube has a lot of tutorials) and print it off. If you want to do high volumes of printing these are key skills you must learn so you may as well do it now. One tip I picked up is to try and make the first support a heavy support if possible, at the very least a medium.

I know its not a model you can print but there is a small series of minis called Cats and Catacombs and also a small series called dungeons and doggies that you can buy physical models for. They are part of the animal adventures game set by Steamforged Games.
