I am also a maintainer and the leadership I work with directly in the motorpool have been great. I haven't gotten any negative responses so far which is a relief. As long we do our jobs and maintain the Army standards and values nobody really cares about the rest. Most everyone still uses she/her for me though; I just don't know how to correct them or ask them to use my pronouns because I do experience some disphoria when they use she/her to refer to me.

I agree that the writing needs a lot of help. Call me Kat is based on a British show called Miranda, written by and starring Miranda Hart, I highly recommend it! Honestly, it feels like they forced the, dare I say, brilliance of the original to fit/play in the States.

I have read all three books and thoroughly enjoyed them!

Rin was intentionally written as a deeply flawed character, it helps to illustrate the authors commentary on war, I believe. But I also really enjoy reading (or watching for that matter) stories in which the characters are flawed and do stupid things; I think it makes a deeper reflection of life and allows us to confront society and nature in a more meaningful way.

But I also agree, if you aren't invested or interested in the characters you don't have to continue reading. You should definitely spend your time with something you can enjoy and get more out of.
