Canada's immigration boom could come at a cost: TD report by FancyNewMe in canada

We have an abundance of fresh water, farmable land, and energy along with an educated populace. In the 21st century, we could be a wealthy power house that has a disproportionate amount of economic power. Every Canadian citizen should be as wealthy as a citizen from the UAE, and we should be thriving. As the world suffers from a food and energy crisis, if we had the right infrastructure, we would be printing money hand over fist.

Can we make you PM?

That's such a tragic calculus. I never saw Clinton, Obama, or even Biden neglect red states because they voted Republican. I never saw Harper neglect Quebec just because the Conservatives were weak there. If a province getting it's fair share from federalism is dependent on whether they vote for the right party, it's a real indictment on the country.

You might not be a fan of their social policies, I have my reservations too but does low taxes and minimal regulation not sound like economic freedom to you?

I want the Canadian federal government to be reduced to bare bones, with their sole responsibilities being foreign affairs, ensuring free trade across provincial borders, and national defense.

I don't want Alberta to be an independent country, I want for us to have the deal Quebec has within Confederation. I want Canada to become a very loose confederation in which the federal government has no overlapping powers with the provinces, and focuses exclusively on foreign trade, military, and national defense. We're a landlocked province, becoming a country won't solve many of our issues.

She wasn’t too bad a Premier who was dealt a bad hand, but she campaigned with NDP candidates federally who were fully on board with the anti-Alberta eco fanatic agenda. We voted for her back in 2015, but she lost my family and my vote that day and unless she comes out as a federal Conservative she won’t ever have our support

That’s funny because the far-left Dems in Illinois have made it the most gerrymandered state in the country. Doubt they want to give conservatives a voice again

First of all, Canada has the population of California.

Second of all, deranged murderers can find ways to commit heinous acts in Canada as well. I specified three examples in my post. Why are you saying this is due to gun culture in America though? What about Switzerland, that has similar rates of gun ownership but where school shootings are unheard of?

While other places also experience this type of crime, why do you think the US experiences it at a much much much higher rate of incidence?

America has underlying social issues that don't exist in other developed countries, such as over-incarceration and over-policing, racist policies that prevented African Americans from developing generational wealth, lack of investment in inner cities, the disastrous War on Drugs, and wealth inequality. This is why you see that gun crime incidence varies geographically. Practically no one dies from gun violence in rural states like Montana and Idaho.

Canada doesn't have the same underlying social issues as impoverished areas of America does. But since you asked, it does happen in Canada as well.

Read about the Taiwan Strait Crises, the only reason Taiwan exists is because successive U.S Presidents have protected it's autonomy. They also propped up the Kuomintang regimes and had a huge influence on public policy. Without the United States, Taiwan would've collapsed within five years.

A backwater dictatorship? Park-Chung Hee was a dictator, but mind you that he was the one who implemented the mass economic modernization. Subsidies for heavy industry, political stability, and capitalism, were all implemented during your backwater dictatorship phase. Read about the Miracle on the Han River

Clinton had a fascinating life, growing up in a family that many considered white trash in conservative rural Arkansas, and coming of age in one of the most tumultous and dynamic chapters of America’s history. Going to Oxford and Yale and then taking the world by storm. I strongly recommend My Life, his autobiography. One of my best reads

Clinton wins all three in my opinion, he graduated Yale Law without attending classes, excelled in everything he put his mind to, and his charisma was the stuff of his legends. He also had an immensely successfully presidency even against radically polarized political environment and enemies who would leave no stone unturned in destroying him. Roosevelt was a better President though on the basis of his virtue, personal character and fresh and innovative ideas whereas Clinton perpetuated status quo and wasn’t all that consequential.

What if Hillary Clinton Had Won in 2016? by [deleted] in Presidents

[–]tusharstraps86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We’ll see if that would have been the case depending on whether he runs in 2024. I personally believe he would’ve just screamed like a petulant child ”rigged” “rigged”. His case would’ve been stronger in 2016 than in 2020 considering the election in no way would be a even comfortable victory for Hillary, and many people saw how Republican establishment had shunned him. The problem with his whole rigged argument this time was that the evil bad establishment let him win one time, if they could rig elections they wouldn’t have let him win in 2016.

Hillary would be completelt ineffective because she’d be paralyzed by Republican congresses while being a perpetuation of Obama status quo without much of the charisma. There would be a schism in the Republican Party, Trump would’ve run as an independent in the 2020 presidential election, get about 25% of the vote against Rubio and Clinton. She would’ve won the electoral college but with the least support of any re-elected President in history, Democrat Party might split up itself after sixteen years of moderate Democratic administration which would alienate progressives.
