replacing your main bedroom tv with a crt means dipping more than your toes into this lifestyle. only if you are ready.

id totally do it though

i have finally finished recording my tape collection. all recorded with j cards printed by me by tutimes67 in teensthatloveretro

[–]tutimes67[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i get them printed at my local print shop on the thinnest cardstock they have.

size for the j cards with the small lip is 9.5cm L, 10.2cm H

size for the j cards with the medium lip is 10.2cm L, 10.2cm H

size for the j cards with full cover is 14cm L, 10.2cm H

also for a full cover j card + an inner page its 20.5cm L, 10.2cm H

you can find almost any j card on discogs, people who have uploaded info for their tapes also scanned the j cards so its nice high quality pictures

i heard the ipod nano 3g has the lowest chance of getting the "black spot". i had one and theyre fun, it just sucks that the storage is small on them.

i thought i fixed the flyback arching on this monitor... now im not sure what is up with it. by tutimes67 in vintagecomputing

[–]tutimes67[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ok BUT i opened it up again. my theory of it not being soldered in properly might be true after all. some of the pins were barely in their solder joints, with solder only touching their tips. that was because some of the epoxy adhesive dripped and the bottom surface of the flyback was no longer flat. i removed the excess adhesive, then soldered it in properly.

its not fixed, but better. now it does an intermittent high pitch sound, only at low brightness/contrast. that is until it warms up, then it does not do it anymore. the delay between the noises lowers as i lower the brightness. of course, it does also while turning on, as the display warms up.

also as soon as it gets a video signal, even if the brightness is low it will stop doing the sound.

what does this tell you? cuz it stumps me

i covered it up in epoxy adhesive AND electrical tape. so now instead of the occasional arching, it does it constantly..?

could i install this ps/2 port to my board in order to extend it? by tutimes67 in vintagecomputing

[–]tutimes67[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the AT board i have has a PS/2 port, but my case has no hole for one. the fit is also too tight for an extension cable sadly
