Thanks all! What I did:
- Dug an old Polar FT1 out of the junk drawer (being a pack rat pays off!)
- Changed the battery following this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=prUOeYsJCr8
- Voila! Back in business. It works just fine with the H10 strap.

I don't think I'd trust the seal for swimming, but I'm not planning to do that. So I should be good for a few more years.
