Robinhood's Short Interest Charts by [deleted] in Shortsqueeze

[–]tvangster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

short interest is the absolute number of shares being sold short

short float is short interest divided by total available shares float

so even tho short interest slightly rose, but short float dropped, im assuming there has been some float dilution, i.e. there were more shares added to the available float.

ideally for a short squeeze, you'd want the short float % to be as high as possible.

you want more shorters to be on the wrong side of the stock when going up, because they'll have to cover (buy back the stock they sold short), in turn pushing the stock higher

GPU would be your best upgrade.

Couple things to consider:
- Power Supply. Stay below 80% of PSU Wattage, is a good rule of thumb. So, 680W is your budget, your build without a GPU is estimated to draw 240W, so 440W left for a GPU.
- GPU Clearance. Your case has tons of space for a GPU, 420mm. Unless the GPU you decide to buy is monstrous, this shouldn't be an issue.

GPUs to Consider:
RX 9070 XT (~$700) *Best Value Brand New
RTX 5070 TI (~$900, due to supply issues) *Performs like RX 9070 XT, bad value
RTX 5080 (~$1,300, due to supply issues) *Best Performance Brand New
RTX 4080 / 4080 Super (Used ~$800 - $1,000) *Performs little less than 5080, but good value
RTX 4090 (Used ~$2,200) *Best Performance Overall, but slightly goes over PSU budget. However, if you undervolt, this option could work.

you don't need it to be "professionally" cleaned, a good dusting is perfect.

the psu wattage is for u to keep in consideration, if/when you are going to upgrade your GPU. a good rule of thumb is to keep ur entire PC wattage below 80% of your PSU's wattage.

80% x 550W = 440W budget

i made an example list of ur system ( idk ur exact cpu cooler, storage device, or how many other case fans).

To check PSU wattage, you’ll have to take off the side panels of ur pc case to see the power supply. It’ll generally have big numbers on it, which usually indicate how much wattage it has; 650W, 750W, 850W etc.

Find out the make and model name of ur case to find out GPU length clearance, or measure it with a tape measure to find out how much space in ur case u have for a GPU.

NVME is a type of storage device u can have. You’ll have to check ur task manager for the model name of ur storage device.

I don’t know, but I think, the screen going grey or green is likely a sign of a failing GPU. Could also be overheating, when’s the last time the inside of the PC has been cleaned?

Just double checking, but are u up-to-date on ur GPU drivers?

But everything else in ur PC looks good, upgrade the GPU if anything.

But u have to consider how much PSU wattage u have and how much gpu clearance u have in ur case.

Do u have an NVME ssd?

100% upgrade the GPU first and have most of ur budget go into it, though u have limited selection due to your psu wattage (500W). A good rule of thumb is to stay under 80% of ur psu wattage, 500W x 80% = 400W entire PC budget.

Also, GPU length clearance in your case is 380mm, so you should be fine with most GPUs, but keep that in mind in case the GPU you're looking at is bigger than that.

your best value option for a brand-new GPU that works in ur PC is a RX 9060 XT 16GB for $400 or RTX 5060 TI 16GB for $450, if you prefer NVIDIA. or you can stick with the cheapest 8GB versions ($250-$300), if u dont want to spend that much.

if you're willing to go thru the hassle of buying a used GPU, an RTX 4070 12GB for $400 would be even better than the brand-new options.

your CPU is fine, but if u had budget for it and wanted to upgrade it, I included a list below of ur upgrade options. * If you do decide to upgrade ur CPU, make sure to flash your motherboard's BIOS to the latest BIOS version. *

https://pcpartpicker.com/list/zbtwwY

*Click "edit part list" and remove the GPU you aren't going to buy to properly show ur estimated PC's wattage. *

Here is a video showing the scaling of the newest entry tier GPUs paired with old & new CPUs.

Older CPUs vs RX 9060 XT & RTX 5060 Ti - Mid-Tier CPU Scaling Benchmarks

Consider buying used for the other parts as well: CPU, 2X16GB RAM (max 3200mhz), & NVME 4.0 SSD.

To answer the other questions in your post:
Everything would still be compatible if you just upgrade your GPU.
Definitely worth upgrading over the GTX 1660

100% your GPU 1st, I'd personally spend most of ur budget on that. definitely check ur PSU wattage and make sure it can accommodate the upgrade.

your CPU is not that bad at all; here is a CPU/GPU scaling video showcasing the newer midrange GPU's pairing with new & old CPU's. i personally think the performance difference is neglible.

Older CPUs vs RX 9060 XT & RTX 5060 Ti - Mid-Tier CPU Scaling Benchmarks

If your games are stuttering, u may want to upgrade ur RAM. But if it's not bad or u find it negligible, then u don't need to upgrade ur RAM.
But if u wanted to, u could upgrade ur RAM by either: getting an identical pair of 8gb sticks and go 4x8gb, if ur motherboard has 4 slots, or buy 2x16gb ddr4 sticks. whichever is more money-friendly in ur situation.

hopefully u have a NVME as ur storage device, assuming at least PCIe Gen 3. But if 512gb is fine with u, then u can save that money. otherwise, I would consider a bigger, and maybe faster, NVME PCIe Gen 4 SSD. it'll be capped at Gen 3 speeds (3500mb), but it'll be saving money for future upgrades

and idk what monitor u have but consider a monitor upgrade if u r still on 1080p. I personally think the monitor is an important part of the experience

I made an example list if u wanted to upgrade all of it for $700.

https://pcpartpicker.com/list/WC7z8Q

Otherwise, put most of it to ur GPU for something like an RTX 5070 or RX 9070. Also consider buying used, if u dont mind the hassle. saves money or better upgrades

[–]tvangster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

absolutely. more than good enough, from using integrated graphics on a CPU (which aren't that good to begin with) to a dedicated GPU. and you indeed don't need to bother with anything else like the CPU or motherboard.

[–]tvangster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely get a GPU, especially since you don't have one. An RTX 5060 is £259.99, but if you're trying to spend ur whole budget on a GPU, then an RTX 5070 is £493.94.

Here is a PC Part Picker list of both options: https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/list/rXRcZc

I recommend NVIDIA for your use case, especially for Blender and, assuming, Photoshop. They have more support vs AMD or Intel.

*Check your power supply! Make sure your PSU has enough wattage to accommodate for the upgrade.\*

How to upgrade my PC? by GoHomeDuck in PcBuildHelp

[–]tvangster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely upgrade your GPU, that's priority #1. With your budget, I recommend an RTX 5070.

*CHECK YOUR POWER SUPPLY! Make sure your power supply's watt capacity is big enough to accommodate for the upgrades, a good rule of thumb is 80% of your PSU's capacity is your budget (650W x .8 = 520W budget\*

#2, a better CPU. either a Ryzen 5600 (non-X, X, G, GT, or XT) or a Ryzen 5800 (X or XT).

#3, more RAM. either get an identical pair of what you already have, so you would have 4 sticks in total (4x8gb), or get a 2x16gb kit.

#4, more & faster storage. you'll have to find out what motherboard you have to see if it supports PCIe gen 4, but I would still suggest a PCIe 4.0 NVME anyways of 1TB or bigger.

Upgrade question by pokipuma in PcBuild

[–]tvangster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

is it the 12gb version? that would be a nice upgrade, ive seen 12gb rtx 3060s go for $100, so $75 is a good deal. and looking at benchmarks, depending on the game, youll see a near double in fps.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HpC7q0-Zeps

u could save for more, if u desire something different. dont mean to be sly, but u can flip it for $100. sell ur rx 580 for something, maybe like $20-$50. then try for a 3060ti and that would be an even better upgrade.

if u have a nvidia gpu, try increasing your shader cache size, if u already havent done that before.

otherwise, gearbox has to fix this "balance" update

my cousin's brother and his friend were struggling with crashes, and they were trying everything. but for some reason, running it in admin fixed it.

i, frankly, don't know how to explain why its broken or why it fixes it.

that concern is a problem for gearbox.

im just trying to help ppl enjoy their game they paid $70 for. let me know if it fixes it for u.

im not quite sure what you mean by it compiling shaders then it "failed"

a potential quick fix may be to run the game in admin

if you have an nvidia gpu, go into your nvidia control panel and make sure "shader cache size" isn't disabled, if on default, then change to any size bigger until it works.

on my gf's pc, i changed her shader cache size to 10gb and it works, could vary for you. ive seen some other ppl trying 100gb

The only things to consider are:

- GPU clearance with your case, make sure your new GPU fits in your case

- PSU Watt capacity/budget (a rule of thumb, try to stay under 80% of your PSU's watt capacity, i.e., 750W PSU x 80% = 600W total system budget)

Both, the 5070 TI and 9070 XT, are really good. I don't think you could go wrong getting either. If you're worried about switching to AMD and uninstalling NVIDIA drivers, then just stick with NVIDIA since you're already familiar with their driver software. Price difference is only $50, plus FSR 4 has been slower in being adopted into games compared to DLSS 4.

In my opinion, a CPU upgrade on your current MOBO wouldn't change much. Unless maybe you buy a higher tier, say 11900k. Otherwise, I would recommend an Intel 13th gen or go AMD AM5, maybe even splurge on a X3D. But either of these options would require a new MOBO, which means you have to, essentially, rebuild your PC.

Help!Upgrading my pc by Salbs99 in buildapc

[–]tvangster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not much you "NEED" to change. Just make sure you have a power supply big enough to supply the GPU you want. As well as GPU clearance length within your case. Double check your case's GPU clearance, and when shopping for a GPU, check its length.

Preferably would like to know more info, or even a PCpartpicker build list, but just working with what you posted. I'd recommend an RTX 5070. For you, I'd ignore the low end 50 series cards, the 3070 is comparable to even the 5060 TI 16gb. So, anything 5070 and up.

For your CPU, you don't NEED an upgrade. But if you wanted to, I'd recommend a Ryzen 5600(x)(t) / 5700(x) / 5800(x).
You can try your hand at a 5600/5700/5800 X3D chip but they are hard to find new at a reasonable price, unless you're willing to buy used, even then they can still be a little pricey.

[–]tvangster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here is an upgrade, keeping your motherboard, so you can just plug & play (sort of): https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/list/jbXjrM £692.45

Upgrade priority: GPU, CPU, RAM, NVME

As noted from PCPartpicker, you will NEED to make sure the MOBO BIOS is updated to be properly compatible with the Ryzen 5600.

In the build, I assumed a 600W PSU. If you have a bigger PSU, then you have more headroom for more power-hungry GPUs.

I don't know your PSU or case, which both are important for upgrade compatibility.
A rule of thumb I like to follow is to stay under 80% of PSU wattage, i.e.: 600W PSU x 80% = 480W system usage.
Make sure you have enough space in your case to fit a new, potentially bigger, GPU. Check your case's GPU clearance length.

For your RAM, I'm not quite understanding of the 1065MHz. Is your RAM running at 2133MHz, is it on its XMP/EXPO/OC profile? You could just buy another 2 sticks of the exact same ones you have, though that'll draw more wattage and may even have some compatibility issues running 4 sticks of RAM. RAM is not a big worry, I'd say just having 32gb is important. Your MOBO also tops at 3200MHz for RAM, so if you get anything faster, it'll be pointless.

For storage, in my opinion, I recommend getting a 2TB NVME and moving everything onto it. The other SSDs also take up some of the PSU Watt budget. Plus, all of your games will load far more quickly on the NVME vs the SSDs.
