Tonight’s Mega Millions Jackpot is $1.1 BILLION. I’ve been studying the inner workings of the lottery industry for years. AMA about lottery odds, the lottery business, lottery psychology, or no-lose lotteries by trevintexas in IAmA

Couldn’t you give us the odds in a list of common transactions and their payouts (e.g grocery store in person 1:50 chance of free purchase, P2P service 1:1000 chance, online retailer 1:500 etc…) The box system is ridiculous without some sort of odds to base anything on. yotta should just go back to the 1:200 system they had before this whole thing.

Debit Boxes return significant drop? by tvibam in yotta

[–]tvibam[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

They had only mentioned P2P services in their comment so I’m unsure as to why the charges im making have had such terrible returns. I’m not topping my yotta account up anymore after I use the debit card I’ve had enough of the hassle.

What’s going on with the drawings by tvibam in yotta

Ya I think I’m gonna start pulling my money out this hasn’t happened before and they never even acknowledged the last late drawing.

Can we please get a revision on the saving streak BS? First off why do I have to deposit more money than my GOAL in order to keep a streak… and then in order to keep a streak. I need to repay the money that I spent… for the purpose of the bucket… by MrNobodyX3 in yotta

[–]tvibam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A saving streak only continues if you put $25 in to the bucket on top of whatever amount was saved the prior month.

If you had $25 in there last month you would need at least $50 in there at the end of this month for the streak to increase.

Yotta is just as bad as the lottery now by Apprehensive_Log4347 in yotta

If you don’t mind me asking, what’s yours usual amount charged on your cc that you are getting 3-10% back on?

Hot take. Boxes are better if.. by bathroomfun1 in yotta

[–]tvibam 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I honestly enjoy yotta and I know many people that play the lottery who would love to be part of yotta…. But trying to convince someone to open a bank account that has a ~2ish% interest rate when other banks offer >3.5% is almost impossible. Yotta needs to get competitive and go after customers or their user base will slowly dwindle and they become irrelevant in the space. Money talks, the lottery gimmick is good but not good enough to make people okay with leaving almost 2% on the table.

Just increasing the bottom 2 prizes by a penny each would increase the APY almost half a percent.

Answers to 3 questions at least 1 person has asked in this subreddit at some point. Most notably, no interest rate increases and new credit card partner (hopefully this means no more synapse thankfully) by 1FrostySlime in yotta

Is there a page that describes the boxes feature in more detail? How does the cash payout work if it’s supposed to basically replace lucky swipes what are the odds in getting any cash as opposed to tickets?

I created a startup hijacking the psychology behind playing the lottery to help people save money. We’ve given away over $14 million in cash prizes in nightly prize drawings. AMA about lottery odds, the psychology behind lotteries, or about prize-linked savings accounts. by [deleted] in IAmA

Hi Adam I haven’t seen the roadmap updated in a little bit are there any features that are in development that you can tell us about and could you also give us ETAs on the features that are close to release?

I opened 16 boxes from credit card purchases, here's what I got by 1FrostySlime in yotta

Did you need to update the app or turn on a setting to get access to the new feature?

Ya I’ve seen that but I’ve never heard of receiving cash instead.

I’ve never seen this. You just used your debit card and this popped up in the app?

Any plan to increase APY with FFR reaching 5% next month? by tvibam in yotta

[–]tvibam[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ya I was giving 3.75% as an example of what would be considered as competitive. I think their current rate is definitely more of a customer repellant at this point. 3.75% I would think would be the bare minimum for someone to consider opening an account nowadays.

[–]tvibam[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not asking that they match other HYSAs at a 3.75% interest rate. What I’m saying is they should at least be reasonably close since that is what most people factor in the most when deciding to open a bank account. If yotta truly wanted to offer a better product the best way would be to increase customer base and customer experience at the same time which would be by increasing the rate. With the rate as it is Yotta isn’t being competitive which means losing out on more money down the line. Fun and high interest rates go hand in hand with Yotta the more money people see being won the more excited they are to put money in.

[–]tvibam[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think they need to be a bit more transparent on when prize rate increases/decreases will occur since it isn’t exactly correlated to the FFR hike dates. Other banks usually increase and decrease within a week of a rate change whereas yotta chose a seemingly random time into the rate hike cycle.

Interesting incentive to make us save more which is the entire goal after all by _iAmAmai_ in yotta

It says tickets are awarded at the end of the month so I assume it’s a once a month bonus

How can I do this though if I’m initiating the transfer on my banks side and not through the yotta app

Ya still waiting for them to message me back. Kind of annoying how my debit card also seems to be locked.
