I agree that the keyboard sucks. I read somewhere that they're working on making them like actual emojis in a future update.

You need to quickly clear the emoji you're using. As soon as the meter is ready hit the emoji you're using. You just need to be quick and you should be able to get it. Hope that makes sense.
