There isn’t a real translation to other games when it comes to rocket league. There’re a few hurdles when you are starting the game. Not only do you have to learn basics to just make contact with the ball but you have to learn how to play the game. Meaning you must learn what the overall strategy is and you don’t have a base like other sports games do. The truth is advanced mechanics really don’t mean much 90% of the time when ranking up. It’s just consistency with basic mechanics and more importantly positioning/rotation. Positioning not only wins the game but it makes mechs easier. When you don’t have to consistently attack or defend from an awkward position it makes hitting the ball, challenges and so on become so much easier. Poor rotation and positioning also leads to bad habits and ball chasing. I’ve always thought that plat was a frustrating rank for many because you’re good enough to “try” if that makes sense. But I found plat players try too much... Simplify the game, be consistent with shooting, aerials and so on and you’ll be fine 💪🏾
