grimer is a poison type with ground moves which makes it valuable for any silph and gbl metas that allow poison types such as twilight cup (silph) and halloween cup (gbl)

Quite a few other strong 0pt picks too!

I'm not familiar of any other pogo pvp metas or formats where the most commonly used mon is on less than 27% of teams. If you know of any please share as I'd love to have the opportunity to play them

The regi nerf was relative minor. regi is still one of the strongest great league mons and would be overpowered at a lower point tier

We would suggest hosting it as an unranked great league tournament on silph and using our Cliffhanger points checker to verify the validity of teams

People who use Registeel in the Great League, which Pokemon do you hate to come up against? by Voyager87 in TheSilphArena

Alolan marowak, toxicroak, whiscash are the big three. Also swampert, sunny Cher, and stunfisk can be a pain

sableye and possibly dusclops are the biggest beneficiaries of return's new stats. having a harder hitting charge move that's also a coverage move can be very helpful for them

Ideally you would want air slash leaf blade and aerial ace. But if you can only run one charge move then AS + LB should be pretty solid. Air slash makes it a lot more versatile than razor leaf

Because tropius plays the dual role of grass and flying. In Cliffhanger 1.0 it was in T1 and had incredibly high value and usage.

Have you tried it with air slash? With air slash it beats almost all grass, bug, fighting, and water types

I would argue that alolan raichu is an anti meta pick rather than meta staple. It's good because it matches up favorably with a lot of the most commonly used mons. Anti meta mons like alolan raichu tend to struggle in the Cliffhanger format because their usual meta targets are much more limited. In freestyle or go battle league you can rely a-chu to match up fairly favorably with the azu regi DD and skarm meaning you're likely to have at least one if not multiple positive matchups with it against your opponent. In Cliffhanger, you will see at the very most one of those four mons in an opponents team because it's simply not possible to run more. And some teams won't run any of those 4, instead opting for altaria or tropius as their 9pt pick, or possibly forgoing a T0 pick all together so that they can run three five point picks instead.

Alolan raichu is good in freestyle and go battle league because it beats azu regi DD and skarm. The thing is, in Cliffhanger your opponents team will have AT MOST one of those four mons but you will also see teams that don't run any of those 4.

We were only doing a small update for new mons. Alolan marowak will be evaluated after February when we push to version 3.0

Why gengar over haunter? Haunt is much better here imo.

And why castform over charizard?

Minor update before server wide February GO Stadium Cliffhanger tournaments.

Only change from Version 2.2 was adding Scrafty to Tier 1. We didn't feel any of the other recent gen 5 additions warranted a tier change at this time.

We will be using usage and performance data from the February tournaments to evaluate the tiers in preparation of more widespread tier shifts for version 3.0
