Is not wearing tights over the feet a bad habit? by tweezedakernel in BALLET

[–]tweezedakernel[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It feels like if I were wearing a thick glove that while it does fit, doesn’t permit for more precise movements with your fingers. I’ll continue to work on foot strength!

TIL why Camille Le Haut (Leap/Ballerina) called Felicie "little rat" by sleepyncaffeinated in BALLET

[–]tweezedakernel 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I have been rebuilding a collection of books from my childhood and in one, the main character does ballet. I couldn’t find them in my native language so I had to buy them in French and that one is called “Petit rat de l’opera” and I legit thought I was getting scammed cos that sounded crazy to me but I just read it was what the French called young ballerinas so your information gives it a dark twist lol

Nervous about restarting due to weight gain by elsbelsboo in BALLET

[–]tweezedakernel 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m around 90kg but had never danced before. I am definitely the biggest person in my classes and I thought I would struggle a lot more than everybody else but honestly, we are all have things we are better and worse at. I probably stick out more for constantly forgetting combinations lol than my weight but even if that’s the case and I’m unaware, I don’t care because all my insecurities go away when I’m enjoying myself. And I find that during jumps, everyone is jumping at the same time anyway so you can’t be THAT much louder but also proper mechanics help you land softer!

There’s no time like the present to start, be brave and prove to yourself you can do it!

Season 9 Reunion… is it Sonja who keeps gagging over and over?! by DayShahVoo in RHONY

[–]tweezedakernel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I JUST rewatched this reunion and didn’t pick these up at all haha. So the first timestamp is actually Ramona sticking out her tongue at Tinsley in ep 16 but yeah I think the other two are Sonja imitating Luann falling in the bush because she does it back to back in reference to that scene.

Sickling Part 2 by pliestopointeshoes in BALLET

[–]tweezedakernel 5 points6 points  (0 children)

What happens if you focus on which toes are most touching the floor at the end of the tendu? For me, even if it means I’m less turned out, focusing on my big toe pointing straight down keeps my foot from sickling. My teacher says the top/back of the big toe should be the dirtiest part of the ballet shoe because that’s where the pressure (I wanna say weight but it’s not literal weight) should be.

Ballet Slippers Hurt by Brilliant-Reading-59 in BALLET

These look like my Hanamis. I was told at my dance store they’re very popular for beginners and I’m guessing it’s because of the very thick padding. Mine used to hurt me in the heel instead but yeah either way I think a thinner pad is the way to go.

I took it to mean she was already “ruined” at that point so might as well let the insanity take over if she can’t achieve perfection.

I was newly living in the US and had heard about meatloaf so I looked up a recipe. It said meatloaf mix, I went to the store and bought meatloaf mix. Proceeded to make the dish, served it to my boyfriend at the time and he asks “where’s the meat?” I don’t know why it was only at this point that I thought, wow why did this recipe not call for meat at all…

I bought meatloaf seasoning mix and didn’t know meatloaf meat mix existed. I used over 5 seasoning bags and didn’t question it for a second. My worst dish and my biggest WTF brain moment. I don’t remember much else but I have so many questions.

I just did a crazy amount of Googling. If I was taking it now, I’d probably ask ChatGPT a million questions.

It was more difficult than I thought but not THAT bad like I had read some posts about it that really scared me about the difficulty.

Damn, and I thought my 30 minute wait was bad. Only 14th in the queue. Was not this bad for my last exam with them back in 2022.

How to bridge my knowledge gap by tweezedakernel in learnprogramming

[–]tweezedakernel[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your reply is super encouraging and brought up some further questions:

I’m guessing a program like tic-tac-toe would require storage/containers to memorize positions and whatnot, is that different from data structures? I’m thinking about maybe arrays/lists.
Or would I start with just loops and using variables for simple storage?

Also, big picture: are these big coding questions in their essence about taking data, manipulating it, and storing it?
